Mick Taylor plans to write a book

Former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor plans to write a book about his time with the band that is "truthful".

The 62-year-old musician - who was a member of the legendary rock act from 1969 to 1974 - plans to reveal the "personal" reasons why he left the group in the tome, after admitting he had mixed feelings about his time with the band.

He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I want to write a book that is honest and truthful, especially about my self."

Speaking of his time in the band he said: "I kind of loved it. I loved it and I hated it. The more successful the Stones became the more seriously they took themselves."

"[Why I left will] be in my book. It certainly wasn't because I didn't like the rest of the band, or had a huge falling out, or anything like that. It's much more personal than that."

While he is planning a personal memoir, Mick - who was joined in the group by Sir Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts, Keith Richards and the late Ian Stewart - insists he will avoid the kind of salacious anecdotes featured in Keith's recent autobiography, 'Life'.

Speaking at the 'Boogie for Stu' concert held in memory of Ian at the Ambassador's theatre in London last night (09.03.11), Mick said: "I jot down my memories all the time and have done for years in case I ever lose my mind.

"I don't want to write the kind of book that will shock people, about the scandals, sex, drugs and rock and roll because Keith's done that with his book.

"It's a hard book to write. My time will come but it's not yet."

I guess the writer of the article forgot at the time Taylor was in the band they had a bass player named Bill Wyman?

It's about fvcking time Mick T pens his story, and I hope he gets to it soon considering his health.
Fuck you Gazza, Will ya?

Mick T couldn't handle being a Stone! I hope he gives us some damn good reasons for quitting.  Am I hard enough? No. Am I rough enough? No. Am I rich enough? No. Am I too blind to see? Yes. I know I'm harsh but I always thought Mick T was a pussy for quitting. IMO.

If Mick T releases a book the same year as the Stones do a 50th Anniversary tour it will sell like hotcakes.

I'll read it.  He has to have some good stories to tell. taylor made smile

I'll buy it! It was a shame that Mick Taylor left the band. His tenure with the band is my favorite Stones Era.
I'm still pissed that Keith wouldn't let him play at the Astoria, London because he missed soundcheck!

Instead of the "Diva" , Mick Taylor don't need a soundcheck , he is a really good performer , great player .Just take a while and listen to his playing on

plundered my soul , and you  will confirm that he still have his place in Stones music  , it will be the best thing to them musically to have Mick on

the next record or tour !

I will buy his book obviously .

Yes, something like 25 years ago for the first time, but what's your point? I was just pointing out that IORR is not much of an album even though MT was still present, i.e. that great period had come to an end, whether MT sticked around or not. And to go further, first hand accounts, in this case Bill Wyman, went on to say that Ronnie's arrival had breathed new life into the Rolling Stones.

So when was that "Astoria incident" ?

Sorry in this way you are right , but with the departure of Mick Taylor , the period of great guitars being finished. The Stones  never been better with Ronnie , and when Ronnie was at the top on stage , he try to play like Taylor did.
When i listen to all the gigs including songs like "Sway" or" CYHMK" it's make me feel that he try to do it but ...., even if this guy is a wonderful , greateful man!

I will not even open the debate on Ronnie  vs. Mick T, I just regret the period when the guitars were really great .Keith has never played better that with the complicity of Mick Taylor , this duo was fairly the best .
