An "antagonistic acquaintance" is someone who badgers you at work... who you don't really care for not someone you have to sit down and write songs with. Remember they have been sneering each other since the eighties... how on earth could they of done all they have since the mid eighties and not really liked each other?
All theyve done? FOUR albums in 25 years. Four fucking albums ! They only really have to tolerate each other on tour, and even then their contact is minimal (eg Keith's remark that Mick hasnt been in his dressing room for 30 years). In their downtime, they live on separate continents and never socialise together. When was the last time you saw a photograph of the two of them together in a situation that wasnt related to a band activity?

It has never happened in the history of music. Maybe a tour ... or two... maybe an album or two but otherwise we are talkin 25 years here. How can you make albums and tour with someone for 25 years and not really like them?
This situation has never occurred concerning that much productivity, over that much of a time frame with any group in which two of it's main members didn't like each other....
Ian
The Kinks managed to do it - and the two main members were brothers!
Daltrey and Townshend have long had a pretty fractious relationship - its probably only really repaired when their fellow band members died and they were the only two left.

>Well Five albums (Stripped had some live in the studio stuff and was an acoustic album). Yeah ... I know.... that's not much being as it is 25 years. But I'm talking everything collectively not simply albums. How many singles... how many gargantuan tours? (not to mention tour rehearsals ) A couple movies... press conferences.... everything. We are talking spending ALOT of time working together... side by side. Your right Rog and Pete didn't care for each other entirely and I understand your point... Mick and Keith tolerate each other more than they could through the eighties.

> I know Gazza ... but sitting down and writing and recording an album intimately, rehearsing a tour, and traveling around the world in these year and a half long tours with someone whom you really don't care for would be extremely difficult ...especially time and time again. I know you never said this, but if the two really didn't like each other much that notion would be extremely hard to pull off ESPECIALLY with how big those two's ego's are. I can't see it. Sure, they are not as tied together as they once were. But they are bonded for life, they are still quite connected, and although each can naw at the other in ways that nobody eles can to one another ....they are still close partners / mates.

>Your right Gazz... I should of stopped and thought more before typing that. However in the examples you gave their ego's were not on the same playing field as Mick and Keith. Think about it ...when those two don't like someone the other person KNOWS it and soon they gotta part ways. You realize that I know.
No they are not so tightly knitt as they used to be. It is decades later. As you get older you spend less time with the people you really should (he he). But still through all the spats and things they are bonded more with each other than anyone else and they still care for one another quite a bit. Maybe like Mick says they never argue they just disagree. hahahaha An odd opposite pair those two are.
