Well you'd certainly think they would of already started writing and trying out demo's.

Normally by this time Mick and Keith have long since got together to write tunes. However, during the some of their shorter recording stints, such as the Bridges sessions they would of had just begun round now. Trouble is, that album was pretty pressed at the end, almost uncomfortably too close to the actual dead line.  You would think they don't want to be too pushy to the time constraints again as they did with that album.

Normally they would be almost finished writing and ready to start recording or would have already started. It's possible they have material Mick and Keith, or all The Stones worked on before that they could continue working up, which Keith alluded to. Possibly this could cut down on the amount of time actually needed versus starting with all new never worked on material.

If it is to be written/recorded as possibly in the vain of Tattoo You, I wonder what sessions they are going over to find things/bits/ideas?

I wonder if it is from Bridges or ABB or both? Keith indicated they had alot of stuff they were working on and had to be left off of last album? did bridges produce alot of tunes as well? I know in 2002 Ronnie said in the few weeks they spent in France for 2002/2003 Licks they had another album in the making (but he does tend to over shoot things).

Hope they look back and make the best choices for song ideas and as well write/put together some brand new great stuff for it.

I can't help it... Sure I over analyze and over think. I sometimes even over react hah...

but seriously I have over the past few Stones albums looked forward to the album, and the tour/live show as a second. The tour and album used to be on an even keel for me.  these days it isn't. I look forward to the album and I get excited about it much more than the tour now.

Everyone here seems to get all excited about the tour and speak as if the album is just a throw in. I do not.

So I gotta find something to talk about in regards to it....

From what I've been told, the band DID actually meet earlier this month (even though the Ronnie interview in the Glastonbury thread seems to indicate otherwise - maybe it's an old interview).

Just the four of them, no management present or anyone else.

They'll meet again in the New Year - although it could be as late as February which isn't a great sign IMO for anyone hoping for a new record or tour anytime soon.

Still nothing concrete as yet for future touring plans.

So does Fall 2011 look possible. Or is it getting too late for that as well?

My suspicion is that they will tour at some point in 2012. I have heard that feelers have already been put out regarding venue availability during this time. However, this doesn't really mean much as the Stones' tours, and all large scale tours, routinley check logistics regardless of any current tour plans. It is always the first "shot across the bow" of any planned tour though. So that's a good thing.

I just think that the 50th anniversary tour is going to be too big of a natural draw for the band to ignore. Business wise it's a no brainer. And while they would never announce it as their final truly last tour, it would naturally be perceived as much by many, and in fact, it may well be.

The only facts I know are what I posted, mate. Anything else I heard is speculative at the minute. Doesnt exactly give them much time to put any new music together though if they're going to tour in 2011.

Your right No it wouldn't give them much time...  Last time out Don Was said that there was material from previous sessions they were thinking about working into the Bigger Bang sessions. Then he went on to say "but this all seems to be of a piece".... meaning their current work (which became A Bigger Bang) was all from a cloth that he wanted to keep going with versus trying to integrate any of the previous session material.

Soooo... possibly they have that material to go over again if they want to use it this time out if they are to release an album in 2011 which wouldn't necessarily require the usual needed time ...

As well, Keith said they had material they couldn't use on ABB in which he was probably talking about the same stuff.

So maybe they are going to try and get some of that cooking in conjunction with some new stuff  in which it wouldn't take as long as the norm?

This is the only thing I can think of because as you noted... starting now, much less February... just wouldn't be all that much time.... In fact ... if it were to be all new material they sought to do... it just isn't realistically enough time you'd think. Especially when factoring in mixing the album, cover art, stage design, tour rehearsals, etc. etc. It really doesn't seem like it could fit... how could it?... if all this was to be new material and assuming they are going to release an album in late summer or early fall to coincide with  a tour...

Interesting.

They've been talking about these mysterious "left overs" for decades. I truly dont think their is much around that is of use. How else can you explain 2 albums of new material in 13 years.

I think Mick doesn't want to tour yet.

But Mick needs to spend a month at Keiths place just to jam out.

Mick is getting older, his sexual needs are less, meaning music is more.

Next year we WILL know some fantastic news.

Their vault is so big they could never keep it shut.
