The music & stage presence is all there, but Mick's vocals sound labored, perhaps forced, like he's tired, exhausted, just wanting to get that show over with.  What the fuck?

Oh no! not you again

That was the 2nd Stones gig I went to. in fact the first show I saw was on the same day (afternoon show) in Frankfurt, 1973 Sept. 30th.
Street Fighting man was the last song on the setlist so your observation may be right but it does have a reason.

* 2 gigs on one day
* the last song of the night
* lots o'coke

heck, even I was knackered after watching these 2 shows. Interesting stuff Ronnie!

Wow! You were there?

How about a full review, or at least tell us how long were the shows?

Wow!

I attended both gigs in Frankfurt Festhalle as they where on the same day.
had a ticket for the 17:30 show but not for the 2nd one. so after the 1st show, I just didn't leave the Fairgrounds and hid underneath a truck.
security was slack, just some lazy local Hells Angels lounging on their bikes and sipping beers.
no one noticed when I joined  the new crowd that was  moving in.
at the last door I only flashed a used ticket and made a run upstairs; landed on the right side balcony from where I could look behind the curtains of the stage.
I could clearly see a big square mirror with many long white lines on it.  taylor made smile
while Mick is workin' the crowd out front on the left stage side - Keith comes backstage behind the curtain...and helps himself.
vice versa - Keith rocks out in the front while Mick comes running around the back.  Perverted Mick

I was on the 2nd balcony, so mid-set I was climbing down (on the outside) to the first balcony,  which was a lot nearer to the band.
you can see those balconys in the clip.
memory is a bit blurred so the setlist helps http://rocksoff.org/1973c.htm
but I do know I was in awe and frikkin' exhausted after all that - oh, and that smell inside the Festhalle. you got stoned by just breathing   Better seen on weed!
Interesting stuff Ronnie!

Clip comes from footage shown on the BBC's Old Grey Whistle Test which was broadcast about 3 weeks later.

That 'timecoded' footage was temporarily 'liberated' from the BBC vaults by a friend of mine who worked there a few years later. He was also responsible for circulating other gems such as the 1 hour footage from Knebworth.

As SFM was the last song of the show I assume that there was more footage at some point. I mean who starts filming at the end of the 2nd show?
do you recon that this stuff was wiped from the BBC archives - but they did have it?

I'd imagine they just got permission to film one song as it was for a segment on a programme as opposed to an unbroadcast TV special or something like that.

The broadcast featured an interview with Billy Preston (resplendent in magnificent Afro wig!) plus the Frankfurt footage.

Whereas the Knebworth footage was taken from unedited 'raw' news footage (a report plus a couple of minutes of the gig was featured on the BBC news that night) most of which was never going to be broadcast anyway, I doubt there would have been anything else left over for the OGWT footage from Frankurt. There's none that I'm aware of, although isn't it the case that one of the 1973 shows was actually filmed professionally (Brussels or Munich, I think) ?

I don't think I saw Bobby Keys onstage -- would this gig follow the Dom Perignon bath Bobby took?  As recently reported by Keith Richards.

I believe that happened in Munich, in which case that was the tour stop immediately before Frankfurt.
