I'd greatly appreciate any help on the topic: I've got a pedal that requires a 9v adapter but doesnt say how many mA.  When I use my typical 800 mA adapter it screeches.  The specs are as follows:
Input impedance: 500k ohms
# Output load impedance: >10k ohms
# Equivalent input noise: -100dBm
# Power supply: 1x9 volt battery or external 9 volt DC adapter
# Power consumption: 20mA
