Just confirmed it on 'The One Show' live on BBC 1 just now. He'll be featuring the songs from his new album.

Ambassadors Theatre, London, 19th October.

(Theatre is in the West End close to Charing Cross Road and Shaftesbury Avenue - a couple of minutes walk from where the Stones played at the now closed Astoria in 2003)

(Local tube station : Covent Gardens/Leicester Square)

Unlike the 2005 Drury Lane gig, this one's a total non starter for me unfortunately.

Midweek means two days off work, and I'll just be back from holiday. No chance.

Hope whoever goes gets a repeat of the cameo appearance that we got last time though.

Oh, and apparently this place only seats about 400 people (unlike Drury Lane which holds five times as many) - so it really WILL be a club show.

Expect a mega clusterfuck.

Barely 800 tickets in total for the two shows. Ronnie knows more celebs than the rest of the planet combined, so imagine what the guest list will be like!

lol THANK YOU Gazza. Finally someone comes out and says it. 400 people is a "real" club show. These shows with a couple thousand people and such. They are not really club shows to me but are billed as such at times.

To me a club show is you know ....2-3-4 hundred people. But whoever is promoting it has to push it as they way it's most marketable.

Just to make things even more appetizing for the regular concert goer, rows 3-6 will be reserved for the appropriately named Fan Asylum, costing a mere $495 - the package gets you the services of a 'host', a laughably entitled 'complimentary bar' (how can anything be 'complimentary' in a package costing $495??), the much coveted laminate and a CD.

All this to see Ronnie play a few songs off his new album (and as there are two shows three hours apart, you can guarantee it won't be a lengthy set) in the hope that a special guest or two might show up.

I know Ronnie's off the booze, but if this is his idea of a show for the fans, he must be on crack.

Even worse, mate. Its 400. The reference to 800 tickets being available refers to the combined amount for BOTH gigs.

Interesting that they havent said yet how much the 'regular' tickets will cost the public. I cant imagine that too many will be available, after Ronnie's celebrity hangers on and the Fan Asylum mob get their share.

The show I saw at Drury Lane in 2005 lasted no more than about 70 minutes. I really wouldnt expect anything any longer than that as its being used to showcase his new album, plus he's playing two shows three hours apart.

Nope. And thats probably the whole idea. The teasing billing of 'plus very special guests' is geared towards the blind faith mob and more-money-than-sense Fan Asylum punter.

I would expect Bernard Fowler to be in his band, though. Probably Kenney Jones as he's recently done some shows with him.

Totally serious, unfortunately!

$495 is £319 at today's exchange rate.

I understand that the price range for  'public' tickets will be similar to what the Stones charged for the 02 in 2007 (which was £150 and £70, if I recall right). Cant confirm that yet, though.

$495?  Isn't that what I just read his current girlfriend used to make for half a night's work? I don't know anyone wealthy or CRAZY enough to pay that.  Ronnie is dreaming.  Fan Asylum would be the correct term.

£80 to £125, I'm hearing. Still unconfirmed though, so I dont know if its correct.

Beats me how a £125 ticket can be THAT much better than a £80 ticket in a 400-seat venue that has a balcony, but there ya go.

Make sure your poker is red-hot.

Exactly.  Now if Ronnie was there to introduce Mick Taylor as his replacement (no offense, RW) and the rest of the Stones came on stage to perform non-war horses for 3 hours and Elvis came back to be my date.  THEN I would dig up the scratch.

Look, more power to Ronnie.  If there are people to pay the price why is it Ronnie's bad?   If he has Keith on that stage that night, everyone will be envious.  There is a strata of people in the world who will pay, it is not I, however, if they want to pay-who's to stop them?

Well...I'd rather see a man's hand wrapped around a donut than a young woman's neck.  I prefer Mick Taylor's playing and you prefer Ronnie's.  We both appreciate Homer Simpson - although I am partial to Hank Hill.

I appreciate Mick Taylor's playing.  I appreciate the past & what it has brought, however, I am a firm advocate of moving on, I am a fan of the present.

Nellie, more of a chance of the Giants winning the World Series and the Forty Niners winning the Super Bowl this year than another Rolling STone appearing on stage with Ronnie at this abhorrent excuswe of egoism......In other words....Ain't gonna happen.

Moving forward (whether with life's bumps or music) is the only sane thing to do.  I agree with you.  However, as long as Mick Taylor is willing and able I will wish for a reunion with the Stones.  Now they haven't consulted me on anything yet so if that actually comes to pass don't blame me or thank me.  My wishes don't carry the power they used to.

Exactly.  Now if Ronnie was there to introduce Mick Taylor as his replacement (no offense, RW) and the rest of the Stones came on stage to perform non-war horses for 3 hours and Elvis came back to be my date.  THEN I would dig up the scratch.

Really.  Abhorrent excuse of egoism?  So, he either gets embarrassed when no one shows or collects a good payday, it's capitalism.  Somehow Ronnie is going to survive.   I hope he makes a killing.  Better chance of a Stone showing than Mick Taylor......

They will, but they'll only really be satisfied if Mick, Keith (or maybe Rod) show up. The inflated ticket price reflects that sense of expectancy. The show in 2005 cost about £40 and it was a pleasant enough evening but it was only the Jagger cameo that elevated it into something special and made it worthwhile.

Asking silly money merely gets people's hopes up that the reason why they're being asked to stump up so much is because someone will show up. And if it doesnt happen, then theyve no cause for complaint because the megastar cameo wasnt promised or guaranteed.

It's not false advertising, but its a pretty sneaky and unethical way of promoting a show.

Ronnie hasnt seen Keith for a year, apparently. Can't imagine he'll show up, although as Keith will probably be doing some book promotion around that time, I guess its possible he COULD be in London. My bet's on it being Mick Jagger if its anyone, but even if it was guaranteed, its a lot of dough for a five minute cameo.

Mick Taylor doesn't show up for his own shows only when he's sick, scl.  Pneumonia for example.  I'd call that an excused absence.

I think Ronnie's last album sold about 5,000 copies. I'm not 100% sure, but it wasnt much more than that. Cant imagine too many of the potential attendees for this gig would have been rushing out to buy the new one.

In a free market society, people vote with their wallet.  If Ronnie has overpriced this-he'll take a bath & people will not come.  He's actually learned from the Stones well, no one ever said they give quality for the ticket price.  Or  have a fair fan club, or really care about the fans.   I've seen Keith play that same boring lick since Live Licks & I tire of it, but I am a lemming & I pay.  Who really gets off on seeing him hang on a mike stand to sing, play the damn guitar.  Ronnie's probably lost more bling & attempts to make it up with gigs like this & the art debacle last night.  Ronnie's not Bruce or Neil Young, or Prince, who can afford to play these type of gigs for short money.  The best way not to endorse it is not to pay, some of them get the point & change, some of them never do.

There are 11 different types of tickets on sale for the circle and stalls for these gigs - at 6 different prices. For a 380-seat theatre. Shocked

Prices in both stalls and circle are £150, £125, £120, £95 and £85. With some Circle tickets available at £40.

Three hours after they went on sale, there are still tickets available for both shows.

It's good to see the expression 'Wide Open' return to Rocks Off after a three year absence.

Shows are tonight.

And, as predicted, a few of those unsold Fan Asylum seats reserved for the front rows have now mysteriously appeared for sale on the theatre's website.

Havent heard anything, but I'm sure it'll filter through at some point.

I'd expect it to be mostly songs off Ronnie's album and therefore more a case of 'special guest watching'.

'Mr Small' guests at Drury Lane in '05 and 'Mr Big' at the Ambassador in '10.

Setlist from the first show, thanks to Bol on IORR :

Thing About You
100%
Why You Wanna Go And Do A Thing Like That
Lucky Man
I Gotta See
Spoonful
Sweetness My Weakness
Forever
Tell Me Something
Fancy Pants
Debris
Night Time Is The Right Time
Plinth (with a bit of Prodigal Son)
Stay With Me
JJF

Kelly Jones guested on Why You Wanna . . . and Debris

Ronnie kind of took a back seat on the last few tracks. He should have taken lead vocal on JJF a la New Barbarians but seemed happy to leave it to Bernard and the one of the girl singers (Beverley Knight?). The 'I feel Like Playing' material was really excellent, better than what followed. I Gotta See was the best song (IMO) by a long way.

Nice pics, moy!
And thanks for reposting the setlist/review, G.

Guess Ronnie invited Chris Noth over after they hung out in NYC recently.

Coupla YouTube clips:

'Stay With Me' - www.youtube.com/watch?v=98yyLOw4tR4

'JJF' - www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTWWDMXxGFc

Ronnie's looking well and playin' mighty fine...

Setlist was the same for both shows, in case anyone needed to know.

Thanks to Chris (Manofwealthandtaste) for posting it :

With those prices and the absence of any of the other band members, I'm content that I made the right decision to give it a miss, but I'm delighted to read that everyone had a terrific night and that Ronnie was on very good form.

No so expensive to see a RS featuring a new album in a theater to 380 people.
The most expensive ticket to Macca (sold out) is USD 1.200.- in a 60.000 people stadium.
I think down here they become millonaires!

Please, if someone got any news about the bootleg of last night, just tell me!  Smiley
I'm so anxious to listen it.

Ronnie was on great form at the late show . A great night was had by all.

We tried to get tickets for the early show about 10 mins before showtime, but cheapest seats were £120 - we passed and as far as I know,it never sold out !

I cant believe this show didnt sell out! In NY people would be swarming around the block! It's shameful since it's such a small venue. Are the UK fans casually unsupportive, too lazy to go out, or just plain cheap? I know I just insulted a few people here, but come on, Ronnie's a fvcking ROLLING STONE! This show should of been completely sold out!

You must be kidding. Ronnie Wood - the solo artist -  is no big deal. How many people could name one solo song? And £125 for a gig of just over an hour by an artist with no solo following (and no guarantee of special guests) is bloody outrageous. Especially when the same sort of show five years ago cost a quarter as much.

The fact that he's a 'Rolling Stone' means bugger all. The Stones collectively are worth far more than the sum of the individual parts. And its not as if its Mick or Keith.

Cheap? No - I guess we're just not as blindly gullible and can see a rip off a mile away.

Well Put Gazza, there are fans who think nothing of him & what he contributes in his time with The Stones compared to Taylor & Jones.

Dont get me wrong, I'm not knocking Ronnie's contribution to the Stones in any way - but this is a solo gig, not a Stones show. There's about two or three artists in the world I'd pay £100 to see, even in a theatre (and yeah, the Stones are one of 'em) , and, no offence to Ronnie, but he's well down that list. The reason we've got silly ticket prices in the last few years is because when the Stones ask their fans to jump, too many people say 'how high do you want?' If some fans see paying through the nose as some validation of their 'loyalty' or some kind of status symbol, thats their business. A bit silly to use that yardstick for everyone else. Everyone has their own priorities in life.
