Stones on Broadway...a question

I just got home to find this in my inbox...it's a msg from U2.com and the presale for the new SPIDERMAN Broadway musical:
================================================================================

Tickets for the Broadway production of 'SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark', with new music and lyrics written by Bono and The Edge, are set to go on sale on AUGUST 14th. You are invited to participate in a special presale starting today.

The new production, staged by award-winning director Julie Taymor (The Lion King, Across the Universe), begins at Broadway's Foxwoods Theatre on November 14th, 2010.

Drawing on over 40 years of comics, co-book writers Taymor and Glen Berger spin a spectacular new take on the mythic adventure that's familiar and fresh yet filled with unexpected twists and turns.

'SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark' is highlighted by visual effects, flying, stunts and breathtaking designs from an international team of artists from Broadway, Cirque du Soleil, the Beijing Olympics and the Spider-Man motion pictures. It also marks the Broadway debut of Bono and The Edge who have composed the music and written the lyrics.

Now through August 18th, you can get advance tickets when using any American Express® Card to purchase. Tickets available to all American Express Card members on August 14th.

...sounds horrible...
but that is not the point of this...it just reminded me a bit of BEATLEMANIA.
I saw it on Broadway when it first opened in 77 or so...and a few times since at various places...

The question I pose...would you like to see a STONESMANIA type thing...I know that many of us here go and see RS cover bands now and again...
but when you can add visuals...that are not too abysmal ...footage...montages...etc...would a full on theater production work for y'all on RocksOff???

Yeah...I know, "get the Stones to play the damn show at the Beacon"...but it's not going to happen any time soon again.

So a standing production...YEA...or NAY???

I would go...matinee prices, of course...unless there was a summit and we all got liquored up before hand...

I think there was some kind of Stones related musical production in the West End in London a couple of years ago. It bombed.

Personally I think the whole thing sounds too horrible and pretentious to even think about.

It's cheesier than a mountain of Danish Blue.

I think it would be much easier Beatle project than Stones project. Can't duplicate the Stones---it's all about the attitude.  Wink

What the fuck? Puke all over me (wait that is BLEED) Are you fucking serious? Shit! Nanker

What i find odd is that TOMMY never really did any good and hasnt been revised.

When i say did no good, i think it won some sort of award, but i am stunned it didnt turn into something bigger.

I love HAIR!
