Man that song is so good! It's a hit at pool parties, chicks dig it. Such a well constructed piece of work. It still kicks me in the nuts each time.
Thanks Stones!

Arguably the best song from those unearthed songs for the Exile reissue. It has that dirty groove that Tumbling Dice and a few other songs have. If it was originally on the album, it would be a classic.

Probably the best Stones song this side of "The Worst" and "Thru and Thru".  I really dig it and hope that if they even attempt to record new material it will be similar to this.  They've gotta know that they were really on to something with all of this Exile vibe, right?

It's okay but A Bigger Bang lasted longer in my player.

A Bigger Bang is still in constant rotation. I've said it on here before-that album is brilliant.

Plundered My Soul is fantastic. I love every single note, lyric, everything. Mick worked his ass off to write a masterpiece.

I was a little iffy on this song at first, but repeated listens have convinced me that it is pretty majestic.  I wish it had more build - Keith's Exile technique of "add something new every minute" is replaced by Jagger's "throw it all in at once" tendencies.  I wish the backup vocals were brought in a little bit more sparingly, particularly Mick's fake Keithisms, a little of which go a long way.  Full chorus and full fake Keith by the end, fine, but with them starting at the beginning, it gets kind of exhausting.

Other than that I love it.

I put it on my wife's Ipod and she eventually said to me, "I like that song, but the lyrics are so weird."  I asked her what she was talking about, and she said:

"I can't believe he keeps saying, 'I fucked your woman for money.'"  Wow!

After I got done laughing I sort of hated to inform her that the line was "I thought you wanted my money."

Any Stones song that can generate such a genius misheard lyric has to be a contender.

I just love Plundered. The lyrics are fantastic, & Charlie smashing away is a treat.

What got me was there was no mention whatsoever on that STONES ON EXILE dvd of the "new" tracks. We didnt even get the promo clip for Plundered.

Odd.

Yeah, I was disappointed about that too. I only got to see that video on my small monitor.....It would be great to see it in a larger format.
And Charlie crashing on the downbeat is sublime..
Its such a simple song, but just bursts with emotion and melody and fire.
It's more than just a gem, its a masterpiece, something that I think we'll be listening to for years....
It might be that great, last Stones song.

I do prefer the mix released as a download-only single, but both available versions are very good. I like Lisa Fisher's backing and Taylor's fills are rather fabulous, too.

When I first read, months ago, about Jagger going in and "adding" stuff to old songs, I was pissed.
While the other "reworked" songs sound like either Jagger was trying too hard (ala, Following the River down to the Streets of Love...) or just filler, which is what the tracks were in the first place..
But PMS sounds vital, like Keith had laid down the track for Jagger/Taylor to do their thing, but the song had to ferment for four decades until they were both ready. It sounds complete.
And the female vocals are perfect, not too intrusive and very Exile-esque.
I think the reason it never gets stale no matter how many time you listen to it is that its so simple. It doesn't have a bridge or go anywhere unexpected......it just flows effortlessly. I can't get enought of it.

Remember to keep your nose to the grindstone, your shoulder to the wheel, your feet on the ground, your eye on the ball, your ear to the ground, your finger on the pulse, your head on your shoulders, the pedal to the metal, a song in your heart, your hand on the helm and the bull by the horns

Thank you. (who knew Bobby was doing baritone... in HS Band, those altos and baritones didn't mix)
you got that 45 you are a lucky mother.
I missed out. Whats so disturbing is you have
these great piano and sax and horns and basslines
from 40 years ago with the vocals and guitar parts on
top and its hard for the little peanut brain to figure out

next subject students is
dancin in the light  .... which is another world away... Shit!

It's so good that I never get tired listening to it. In Jagger's words, it's something about those Mick Taylor lines. As Texile said, I wish Jagger tapped into the greatness that puts him in a league with maybe about 2 other people in all of music.

I love it. When I first heard it, took me a while
to get into it. But I played it constantly until I realised
it's awesomeness. When I'm in a relaxed zone and I put it on, itjust seems so
etherial.

It's a bit like a fine wine. It has been left to age for all these years and now that we get to taste it, it's majestic.

Can you believe it,
I've won no medals
In this love game.
I've been resting on my laurels,
I'm a bad loser,
I'm a yard off my pace.

I smell rubber
And I soon discover
That you're gone for good.
My indiscretions
Made a bad impression,
Guess I was misunderstood.

I thought you needed my lovin', HFS
But it's my heart that you stole.
I thought you wanted my money,
But you plundered my soul.
(Plundered my soul)

I started askin' around,
But your friends'
Pretty lips were sealed.
I wrote a letter
Full of trite confessions
About wounds that heal.

I heard some gossip,
You'd become an alcoholic,
You were dryin' out.
So I phoned every clinic
In the Yellow Pages,
Not a trace I found.

I thought you needed my lovin',
But it's my heart that you stole.
I thought you wanted my money,
But you plundered my soul.
(Plundered my soul)

I hate quittin',
But I'm close to admittin'
I'm a sorry case.
But on quiet reflection,
My sad rejection's
Not a total disgrace.

But I do miss your quick repartee
And the smile
That lights up your face.
You'll be a hard act to follow,
A bitter pill to swallow,
You'll be tough, you'll be tough to replace.

I thought you wanted my lovin',
But it's my heart that you stole.
You were a trick up my sleeve,
My ace in the hole.
I thought you wanted my money,
But you plundered my soul.

Oh, plundered my soul
Oh yeah (plundered my soul)
You plundered my soul
Yeah, yeah (plundered my soul)
Oh, yes, yes, yes you, baby
(Plundered my soul)
