Lady Ga-Ga's work can be described in three words: ... catchy, edgy, and artistic.
Her music caught my ear a couple of years ago and ever since I've been nothing but impressed.
Ga-Ga sounds and appears like Madonna meets Marlyn Manson. It is Pop music with a dark undertone.
Yeah it's Pop with a dance/techno theme but guess what .... I like pop music and Ga-Ga is by far and away the best out there.

How do you reconcile this with your love of the Rolling Stones who haven't been "pop" for 43 years?
What other bullshit disco music enamors you?
Amy Rigby is pop and for me is much more palatable than Stefani Germanotta.
By the way, I ain't braggin', but I used to work with Gag-a's mom, Cynthia Bissett, back in the '90s at MFS Telecommunications. Cynthia was a sales person in NYC.
I don't have to reconcile anything with The Rolling Stones. The Rolling Stones have nothing to do with Lady Ga-Ga or vice verca...
I just noted I dig her, and I think she's got a lot of talent. As far as Pop music goes .... OK so it is manufactured, shallow, and not to be taken too seriously. The recording of it lacks in dynamics and everything's compressed to the hilt. Yeah ... anymore Pop is even worse with 16 or 17 year old kids trying to make a statement.
But I like a lot of it and I always have. I don't take it seriously (who could) but I listen to it and enjoy it.
I like a more than a hand full of different music genre's. Country, a touch of some folk, blues, some gospel, lots of punk, hard rock, classical, even a bit of disco when the time is right or every blue moon ....and yes Pop.
My neighbor wrote a song and plays guitar on it. He is 56. He will never be a rock star. He will never be taken seriously. The song will never be a number one hit. But guess what .... it has a nice hook, a good distorted guitar sound, and some funny yet even introspective lyrics. It is a bit catchy, and the melody is unique. I was surprised.
I listened to it. I like it. End of story... Same is true for my liking of pop music.
*Everyone always looks down or makes fun of folks who listen to current top 40 radio? Why? Nobody says you have to rank these artists in the top ten acts of all time. Nobody says you have to take it seriously. Hell, nobody says you have to buy any of it. It is simply called listening and enjoying it is all.
Maybe it is an ego thing any more, ..I don't know (not meaning in your case Wild Bill) but really ... why analyze or make fun of it if nobody's claiming today's pop, or any era's pop is the greatest stuff since Beethoven's Fifth Symphony.
Now as far as The Rolling Stones go?.... I realize this is a Rolling Stones message board and all but as I said .... what does this post , today's pop music, or Lady Ga-Ga have to do with them in any way?
Just sayin I liked her and felt she was a step above the rest out there in top 40 land is all...
Speaking of which how was Lady Ga-Ga's mom?? Nice lady? Strange? Did she ever mention her daughter?
