Something between the glimmer twins was festering throughout the
the American leg of the 1981 tour and with the firing of Jane Rose, Stones
long time executive secretary,...
it boiled over into a mental hop scotch
chess match between the glimmer twins
“ Keith, had immediately hired her to look after his affairs as his manager.”
Pissing Mick off   “ This made Mick crazy and the more authority
Keith gave Jane the angrier Mick became.” ...
“The Rolling Stones’ “private” jam session at Sir Morgan’s Cove
was supposed to be just that —
private — and also secret, with the Stones attempting to pass incognito
as the Cockroaches. Smiley
But as the nature of the business would have it, there was a leak.
It occurred early in the day Monday after weeks of rumors.
And before the day was over, the local media would
claim that “history has been made in Worcester”...
Cheesy

Sept 1981 deep in tour rehersal at Longview Farm in autunmal
maple –red Massachuetts the RS tried to get it to gether one
more time Jagger carred a calculator and appoinment book  he tell
Woody’s ol lady, Jo to keep her  “brats” out of his face Keith turned
a basment room (again w/the basement)
into his pool room where he and Woody drank, jammed and
complained about “Brenda”
one of their many name  for prissy, diffident Jagger. Mick had insisted the musicans sign
a “NO DOPE AT THE GIGS” clause in their tour contracts  and Keith who hated freebase
had personally guareenteed that RW wouldn’t use base on the tour.
...
Another clause provided that Mick stay completely off the stage  while Keith
did his single number of the set.
Mick had made a lot of unilateral decisions about the tour that annoyed
keith He didn’t like the cheap looking Japanese pop art stage
sets he didn’t care about the film and cable tv rights Jagger
was sellin, and didn’t think t he Stones were in any shape to
do a concert film.
He was irked that Mick
refused to hire Bobby Keys for the tour and instead had
singned up Ernie Watts
Ketih despised Mick’s industrial “ cherry picker,”
that would project Mick over the heads
of the kids in the stadium shows like a ludicrous
pop preacher.
...
This was such a sore point that
Mick tired to leverage keith with it , offering to lose
the cherry picker if Keith promised there would
be no hard drugs on the tour” ( right)

Good morning South Philly pretzel munchers cheese steak much?”
...
The top 40 radio station blurring out “ ALL STONES ALL DAY “ bam boom crack
morning drive time “Satisfaction. ” Album oriented rock was sinking it’s frequency
with cuts from “ Tattoo You “ the college station was spinning the long,
long, long version
of “Slave.”
...
That morning my little rock n’ roller
cooked me up some eggs
Then she made some tea, kissed me on the cheek
And I turned on her TV
...
But my ear was riveted to the announcement coming from the radio
It was loud and clear “500 Rolling Stones tickets will go on sale this
morning 10 am at the JFK box office!” I shouted “Start Me Up!” Getting a ticket
would be a monumental feat difficult especially since it was only
the second show on the tour but
I was determined.
...
I hopped the A train
The talk was ‘bout tours, as Bill Taylor, a writer for the Philadelphia
Journal, would note
in a piece appearing the morning of the second show “
When the Stones come out from under their rock and hit
the touring trail- a phenomenon that happens regular as
clockwork every three years- what they do is something
which transcends mere music,”
I climb out exit JFK box office what a dump! All bleacher seating, worst
restrooms ever.
...
Mick Jagger held a press conference
announcing the tour a few weeks back
Yes it’s all coming back now the rolling Stones concert
...
3 years ago Mick was dodging foot wear. I wonder
what we’re gonna heave over
our shoulders
and onto the stage this year?
...
Maybe we'll get baptize.

The Stones double-entendred, three-word porn movie title
...
” Under my Thumb”
is used as an excuse
for the women to carry signs in protest, many angry feminists are holding
the side walk at
bay shouting at the Stones.
I know better than to hang out in a line with a bunch of drunken reprobates
wearing wrist
bans waiting to get their hands on a few Stones’ tickets
I needed to pee and I was waiting on a friend to stand in line for me.
But he was held up trying to get a wrist ban for the weekly government
cheese.
...
I was talking to Mr. Stones about the song “Hang Fire”
I corrected him and he thought I called him a “Lazy Bitch” I said “So sorry
I meant to say is that ,
during those out takes you can hear MJ improvising and He throws in the
lyric “ I had-it with you, hang-fire,” Possibly referring to Keef.
I told Mr. Stones I thought that would make a good title for a song someday.
...
Mr. Stones came back
with it saying “Lazy Bitch, The track portrays the depression state of a
country racked
by unemployment and poverty” he went on to say “ It has a cynical ring
since the people
described seem content to remain faltering at the bottom of the social pile-
the workingtitle Lazy Bitch confirms these suspicions
“The country dear friends is one
where I used to come from “ sings Jagger.
Mr. Stones  continued “The single release was only
made in the states, the insinuation
perhaps too strong for an upfront single release on home territory.”
...

From Martin Elliot’s “RS’s complete Recording Sessions 1963-1989.”

The Goodyear blimp dodging the news helicopters high above the stadium
down below the anticipation building up the mood was anxious people
hooting and howling yelling and whistling inching closer to the stage ready
to get rocked hard and fast by the Stones
...
everybody was wearing a beautiful buzz what a beautiful buzz indeed.
Frisbees colliding with giant beach balls, stranger stopping strangers just
to shake their hands, girls flashing guys, guys drooling all over each other.
...
I was ready for shuffling madness the crush ready for the push towards
the giant pink stage. Someone hand me my refeer back it was small.
.........
I smoke the roach nothing happen then all of
a sudden everything look bigger the stage was enormous
...
I started getting hungry and
paranoid and I scrapped the sky then  scoped out the stage all is quiet
except for the small roadie Keith’s side fussing around tinkering with some
knobs.
...
Soon after that it become a struggle
I couldn’t deny myself it would only tighten up I surge closer to the stage
the huge draped curtain in all its splendor, punctuated the stage pagentry
The mass began to bellow as one you can hear the piano chords warming up
than Duke Ellington’s classic song “ Take the ‘A Train” blurs
through  out  , soon takes over the sound system
The energy level is ripe The Rolling Stones will be so close you can
almost touch them and with that Bill Graham ‘s  voice cracks the mic.
...
GOOD EVENING ROCKS OFF MEMBERS! THANK YOU FOR WAITING!!
WOULD YOU PLEASE WELCOME THE ROLLING STONES!!!!

Excerpts from “The Rolling Stones The Last Tour” by Peter Goddard
...
“Critics have flown in from London to L.A. and less than an hour into the first show
JFK all the workers and groupies Hangers-on record people have come to realize the
same thing: It isn’t working> The rolling stones are bombing in exactly the same city they
bombed in at the start of their last tour in 1978
...
...
... Chord changes are being missed, words forgotten and the’s no trust, no energy
Overhead a tiny plane circles pulling a banner with a feminist
message complaingabout the words
... “under my thumb,” some knew it might happen this way .
They almost expected it. Immediately before the Stones started out, friends
close to band whispered that this might well be “the last time.”

Wretched sinner unit! The path to  Rolling Stones’ heaven lies here<>
...
Gimme the mic. damnit!
...
I was driving home early Sunday morning through Bakersfield
Listening to gospel music on the colored radio station
And the preacher said,
...
"You know you always have the
Lord by your side 'Cause if you're a sinner, he's gonna plug
his infernal modem in the wall,
...
belchin' smokeFire
and brimstone  and flame And he's gonna download you straight to Rolling Stones Hell!!
...
I see a lot of fancy
Rolling Stones’ fans  here today,  wearing  of real shiny  clothes.
...
But that don't impress the Devil,
no, sir!  Clap your hands if you feel the fire!
...
Viceroy  : No, sir!
...
Preacher : Staright to  hell… a men.
...
Viceroy: Straight to hell!
...
Preacher: So I ask you: Who will stand up and be saved? Who?  from the cold, steel grip of the Rolling Stones’
hell never to tour again
...
Is it you! Jumping Jack Flash?!  jump unto the cold, steel bosom of our congregation.
...
accept the principles of  RollingStonesology on pain of eternal damnation in Rolling Stones’ Hell?…

Yes! sign me up.

I found most of the photos googling from sites here and there
I'm sure you have seen them before
anyways   I say " It's all about the Stones. " alright! end of part one.    Smiley

From a fan  "I first saw them in the 80s in Seattle.
Tattoo You had been released and I was about 11.
I told all my friends at school that I was going
to see The Rolling Stones. They had no clue.
...
...
My older sister and I hopped aboard the bus to Seattle
after spending a lot of time
and effort getting tickets. It's like playing the freakin' stock market.
Tickets go on sale and BANG!
You have about 22 minutes to purchase your tickets.
So we were on our way to Seattle
...
and my sister stands
in front of the whole crowd and said: "If anyone has pot or alcohol on them,
you better ditch it now 'cause my mom will kill me if my little sister
is exposed to it, or gets stopped at the border…"
...
She meant business.
We were on our way to see Mick and nothing, and I mean NOTHING,
would stop us. Of course, the show was FREAKIN' fantastic.
I don't even have to explain.
came home and told my mom I loved Mick Jagger and
my memorabilia collection expanded into space.
I bought every book, poster, picture,
record -- you name it. I think I have entered every
single contest andpromotion related to the Stones."

Ain't no girls prettier than the chicks  at the Tangerine Bowl Orlando FL.
Yet another  fan  “I saw the Rolling Stones and Van Halen at
the Tangerine Bowl in Orlando, Florida in 1981 for $16.00!!!”
The Stones wreaked  havoc downtown Orlando and split the scene
headed to hot-lanta into the chit ling circuit.
...
Alright -with-the-shoes-already one night I was throwing my shoe at the  tv..
here's another story I found googling.....
"One night I was flipping around to ascertain if it was still true that with 100+
channels to choose from, there was still nothing on worth watching, when
I paused on Palladia, the HD music channel. They were showing
'Let’s Spend The Night Together' a somewhat mediocre movie of the 1981
stadium tour by the Rolling Stones.
It was a memory trigger that made me think about the night
I saw them on that tour.
They were playing big stadiums and outdoor shows before
tens of thousands at a time.
But for one night on the tour, they played
for about 4,000 people at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta,
and I was lucky enough to be there
How lucky? The announcement of the show and the beginning
of ticket sales happened at 2AM one night, and within two hours
the tickets were gone.
I basically woke up to the news of a sold out show.
However, being program director of a
rock station in Macon, I did what I always did …
call the promoter and ask for comps (“complimentary
tickets”).But the lady who’d always been able to come
through for me before told me “there are no comps for this show,
all the radio people have to pay for their tickets (!!!),
and we were only given enough
for the Atlanta stations. Sorry.”Bummed, I was.
But on the Friday afternoon before that Monday night show,
this nice lady called me out of the blue: “I’ve had a
last minute cancellation,
do you want two tickets?”Yes, indeedy. How much are they?
$32.50 each!?!
(this was twice the going rate for tickets in 1981) Gulp,
OK.I’d never paid that much
for a concert before. And I had also always been able to
take a camera, and use those prime comp seat locations
to get good concert photos.
But not only was this the first tour to break
the $30 ticket barrier, it was the first tour where
no cameras were allowed!"
Left  shoe shuffle right shoe  muffle
Ain't no girls prettier than the girls of Texas
The Stones had their sights set
on  that there Texas shuffle.
...
...
'Do you know this one?

Here's another memory.  "Tickets were $29, if I remember correctly,
which was absolutely outrageous.
It was going to be their last American tour, though, so I and two
of my friends decided that we had to go.It was our last chance,
you see. The Rolling Stones - Oct 31, 1981 Cotton Bowl.
...
The concert was held at the Cotton Bowl, in Dallas, and there were
100,000 freaking people there. We were on the floor of the stadium, and it
was a combination carnival/madhouse/freak show of epic proportions.
have many memories of that day, but most vividly,
I remember the drug vendors.
Most of them had rainbow suspenders attached to cardboard boxes
and they looked like a very stoned version of a cigarette girl.
They walked the floor of the Cotton Bowl,
hawking their merchandise like carnival
barkers: Acid--five dollars a tab. Doobies.
Get your doobies here.I've got speed.
I wish I could remember the rest of the pricing,
but all that stuck in my mind was the price of LSD"
