Almost could be called "No Faces" Glad to see Ronnie involved in something musically and confirms no Stones activity until fall at the earliest.

Not really.

Mick + Keith could be writing/recording this very moment. They basically used Wood as as sideman on the "Bigger Bang" sessions.

What's funny is the Daily Mail article (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1281319/The-Faces-ready-rock-35-yea...) says that some were worried that Mick Hucknall wasn't "cool" enough to replace Rod Stewart. It is probably a load of rubbish but the idea that Rod Stewart still holds any "cool" cred is laughable. Very cool he is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAmH7tEws0o

the odds of Mick and Keithwriting/ recording now after their Exile interviews are remote but we can dream......and yes Woody was left out of the recording process and I think the album suffered from the lack of all hands on board to work out the arrangements etc in the traditional Stones recording methods.....

Ronnie was interviewed (with Kenney Jones) on Sky News this afternoon about the Faces reunion gig. Its not online yet but probably will be later.

He says he's now been 'clean' for exactly 60 days.

Faces reform for Vintage at Goodwood festival - with Mick Hucknall

Simply Red vocalist Hucknall is rock'n'roll enough to step into original front man Rod Stewart's shoes, insists Ronnie Wood

gig with Simply Red vocalist Mick Hucknall and former Sex Pistol Glen Matlock on bass.

They were as celebrated for rock'n'roll excess as for their influential music, and counted among their members two of the most notorious bad boys of their era. But while fans of the Faces will welcome news that the band is to reform, they may be left scratching their heads at its new lead singer, former Simply Red frontman and silky-voiced ladies' man Mick Hucknall.

Speaking to the Guardian, Ronnie Wood, who went on to join the Rolling Stones, insisted that Hucknall was rock'n'roll enough to step into Rod Stewart's tartan stack heels. "His band aren't but he is. Mick's a big Faces fan and it comes out when he sings, it's a kind of relief for him because he can let loose. Mick's range is like Rod's vocal range was in the seventies."

The three original members – Wood, Kenney Jones on drums and Ian McLagan on keyboard – will be joined by Hucknall and former Sex Pistol bassist Glen Matlock for a gig at this summer's inaugural Vintage at Goodwood festival. They then hope to tour next January.

The Faces are an important and some think undervalued piece in the complicated alcohol-sodden rock jigsaw of the 1960s and 1970s, formed by three evacuees from the Small Faces and Wood and Stewart from The Jeff Beck Group. With hits like Stay With Me, I'd Rather Go Blind and Had Me a Real Good Time they were one of the most successful bands of the early 1970s and particularly successful live where, with their brand of boozy, good-time camaraderie, they bonded with the predominantly male audiences.

The band have been rehearsing with Hucknall, and, said Wood, "it sounded so good we thought we've got to take it on the road. It was sounding fresher, if anything, and more focused."

That might have something to do with the bandmembers not being up to their eyes in drugs and drink. Wood, who these days declares himself "clean and serene", admitted: "It makes a big difference, yes, to actually know what you're playing."

Jones said one secret of the Faces was that they all acted as themselves. "We played it like it was and people either liked it or they didn't. The audience was on stage and we were with the audience, it was like a big party and it will be again."

The band members still hope that Stewart might one day be persuaded to join them. However, "he's touring and promoting and it's impossible to get any sense from his management," said Wood.

Vintage at Goodwood  (13-15 August) is the brainchild of designer Wayne Hemingway and is meant to be something new on the summer schedule - a sort of festival for people who feel too old at Glastonbury or who can't face being camped out in a muddy field. That's reflected in the line-up. As well as Faces there will be Buzzcocks, The Noisettes and Heaven 17. It is also meant to be a celebration of "British cool" from the 1940s to 1980s and there will also be a carefully curated schedule of events combining art, design and fashion.

Ian McLagan Talks Reuniting The Faces Without Rod Stewart

"I want to play some music and not wait another two years," says McLagan

After playing a one-off show with Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall last year, The Faces are gearing up for their first tour since breaking up in 1975. Their only gig on the books now is for August 18th in England, but Faces keyboardist Ian McLagan tells Rolling Stone many more are coming that month followed by a longer run from December to March. "And then we should play the world for fucks sake," he says. "I’ve been trying to make this happen since 1975!"

The main reason the reunion has taken so long was Rod Stewart’s reluctance to take a break from his solo career. In October 2008, he agreed to rehearse for one day with McLagan, drummer Kenny Jones and guitarist Ron Wood. "The bunch of us rehearsed for a few days — but we only had one day with Rod," says McLagan. "He came on the last day and played a bunch of songs. I was very pleasantly surprised by how great it went. He talked about doing one charity gig. I thought 'That’s nice. The Faces get back together to do a charity commitment for Rod? That ain’t right!' I have nothing against charity gigs, but I wanna make some money! I want to play some music and get out there and not wait another two years. We sent him a very friendly note and he declined. He’s busy doing his stuff and doesn’t want to do it. But Mick wants to do it. Ron, Kenny and I want to do it and we will!"

Last September, The Faces recruited Mick Hucknall to perform "Stay With Me" at a charity gig at London's Royal Albert Hall. "He knocked me out," says McLagan. "I turned to him and said 'nice job.' He said 'I can’t imagine doing that every night. I said 'Be careful what you wish for — or what you don’t wish for.'" The band rehearsed for a few days and also recruited Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock to sub in for the late Ronnie Lane. "He respect Ronnie’s lines," McLagan says. "It’s almost like having Ronnie there."

Booking a tour poses logistical problems for the group because of Wood’s commitments to the Rolling Stones and Hucknall’s commitments to Simply Red. But McLagan is sure they can pull off a tour of the states — including gigs in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles — and possibly write and record some new Faces material. "I think that would come as a natural progression," says McLagan. "I got loads of songs and they’d be very suited for The Faces. (Don't expect new songs to be performed live, however; "We're mostly going to do old rockers like 'Miss Judy's Farm and 'Stay with Me," McLagan says.)

McLagan also confirms Ron Wood’s recent claims in the UK press that he’s been sober for sixty days. "Ronnie had been struggling and quite frankly I think he was with the wrong girl for a while," says McLagan. "His girlfriend now is so encouraging and helpful to him and she’s right for him. I’m a drinker and after rehearsals me and Ronnie went out and I thought he was going to weaken. He said 'You can have a drink' and I said 'Not if you aren't.' He used the expression 'I think I’ve found my grace,' which I think says it all. We were drinking partners and now that’s gone, but he’s just as much fun without a drink."

The band is under no illusion that the fans aren’t going to miss Rod Stewart. "Yeah they’ll miss him — but he ain’t going to be there!" says McLagan. "It’s still The Faces. I just hope that people come with an open mind because one way or another they’re going to be surprised."

Ronnie Wood: 'Rod Stewart isn't ruled out of Faces reunion'

Guitarist also says why he recruited Mick Hucknall

June 4, 2010

...

Faces guitarist Ronnie Wood has said that the band "haven't ruled out" getting original frontman Rod Stewart to play with them again.

The reuniting band have recruited Simply Red's Mick Hucknall as a replacement for Stewart, and are set to play the Sussex Vintage At Goodwood festival (August 13-15).

Wood told NME that Stewart wasn't on board because of schedule clashes, but claimed they were on good terms and he may join them in the future. Stewart in fact told fans at his O2 Arena gig last week (May 29) to give the Simply Red man "a chance" if they went to see the band live.

"We haven't ruled Rod out," he said. "It's just that his schedule is totally crossing over exactly when we wanted him. We've got Mick Hucknall because his voice is just like Rod's was in the '70s."

He added: "The door's not closed to Rod, but we're carrying on because it's worth it."

The guitarist said that the band may tour in January and hoped to play Glastonbury and other festivals in 2011.

KEITH RICHARDS JOINS RONNIE WOOD IN NEW FACES

Tuesday June 22,2010
http://www.express.co.uk

Keith Richards is said to have been keen for Mick Jagger to reform the Rolling Stones

DAY & Night can exclusively reveal that Faces fans are in for a treat as Keith Richards will be joining Ronnie Wood on stage as a special guest for the Seventies supergroup’s reunion.

While Ronnie, 62, left, is busy reforming his old band for a one-off show in Sussex late this summer, before embarking on a tour early next year, Keith, 66, right, is said to be getting impatient with waiting for Sir Mick Jagger to reform the Rolling Stones.

And a close pal tells us he is now ready to pursue other musical interests in the meantime, including joining Stones colleague Wood on stage.

“Ronnie and Keith have talked about Keith coming on board for a guest appearance with the Faces,” we’re told. “At the end of the day Keith just wants to play and he enjoys playing with Ronnie more than most people. ”

Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall will initially take on vocal duties as original frontman Rod Stewart is unavailable.

Another classic case of a headline stating something as a 'fact' followed by a story which does nothing of the sort. All speculation based on 'we're told' that they've 'talked about' it.  The second paragraph says its happening - but the penultimate paragraph says its merely been talked about. Talk about covering your asses!

Its quite feasible as the Faces' gig is not that far from Redlands - the cynic in me however suggests it screams of a 'planted' story conjured up as a desperate measure to entice people to buy tickets.

if Keith is so desperate to play, why has he barely played for ten minutes in public for the last three years? Any band in the world would fall over themselves to accommodate him.

Remember to keep your nose to the grindstone, your shoulder to the wheel, your feet on the ground, your eye on the ball, your ear to the ground, your finger on the pulse, your head on your shoulders, the pedal to the metal, a song in your heart, your hand on the helm and the bull by the horns

...- the cynic in me however suggests it screams of a 'planted' story conjured up as a desperate measure to entice people to buy tickets.

funny how things don't change...Ronnie used the same "special guests" routine/ruse with the new barbarians

I don't know Mick Hucknall from Adam.  Can he sing, and does he sound at all like Rod?

Faces announce new gig

...
Changing Faces ... Mick Hucknall, Kenney Jones and Ronnie Wood

RONNIE WOOD unveiled a new look line-up for THE FACES yesterday, with MICK HUCKNALL replacing ROD STEWART on lead vocals and former SEX PISTOL GLEN MATLOCK standing in for bass guitarist RONNIE LANE.
Ronnie said the "magic was still there" as the reformed rock icons announced an exclusive American Express gig at the British Music Experience, O2 on August 11 to kick off their reunion tour.

Ronnie said: "We thought, 'Well, why not?'

"It's exciting to be on this path again and I hope that the Faces fans are excited as we are. I'm just really looking forward to seeing them this summer."

Original members KENNEY JONES and IAN McLAGAN will also return.

Kenney said: "We cannot wait to be back on stage playing to a live audience again."
