..when a 16-year old Teiz woke up after his first ever Stones gig. I went in to the Feyenoord stadium in Rotterdam the night before as a fan, I woke up the next day as a freak. That gig changed my life. Greatest moment of the night was when 2000 Light Years turned in to Sympathy, with Mick singing from the roof of the stage. Fantastic. I'm also very glad I got to see them with Bill still in the band.  I don't know how many cash I've spent on the Stones ever since, or how many hours I listened to their music, but it's been worth it..

Show cost me 60 Dutch guilders at the time, so that's about 25 euro's...brought a lot of papers to afford it..

You found the Stones....and then the Stones helped us all find each other.

You hit the nail on the head, SV!

Teiz, I love hearing stories like this. Even now, when someone's listening to, say, "Let It Bleed" or "She Smiled Sweetly," and can't help but share their joy with us, it's always a good feeling.

Hi everyone!,

For many years Iīm checking out Rocks Off, with a lot of pleasure. Never had the need to post something myself though. I was perfectly fine by standing in the shadow, untill now while I read Teizīs story. It brings back the greatest memories. It was also my first Stones concert. I was 18 years old and had been waiting for this moment for so long. I already was a fan when I was 6 years old. In 82 it was my first opportunity to see them, my older brother went and I wanted to go with him so bad, but my parents didnīt allow me. I still hate them for that!!Then in the 80īs it seemed there was no way the Stones would come back together again. But finally it was on the radio, the Stones would come to Holland! Wow I run out of school immediately trying to get tickets. I asked my friends if they wanted to join, but no one was interested, cuz they were all into Gunsīnī Roses and Bon Jovi, all that crap! I was the luckiest guy ever when I got the ticket, even I had to go on my own. So there I was 18 May 1990 in Rotterdam, my first Stones concert , feeling like a virgin Stoner! I remember the waiting, I was nervous but finally..........Continental Drift started and suddenly.....Bang...the opening chords of Start me Up!!! A lil guy in a red coat jumping the stage all over, with next to him a guitar player kicking his legs way up to the sky! Immediately the crowd went completly nuts, the roof of the stadium was litteraly moving up and down. 50.000 soulmates going completely nuts, it was a feeling you canīt discribe in words. If I only will have an orgasm feeling like that moment, I will die very peacefully!!
Finally in 1995 I had the change to see them again. This time I really wanted some friends with me. I had to make a deal with them, I would go with them to see Bon Jovi/ Van Halen and they would join me to the Stones. Can u imagined how much I suffered, watching Bon Jovi was even worse then I expected. But I got thru it!!! And I took them to the Stones, and guess what....no one is talking about Bon Jovi anymore....when the Stones come to Holland, everyone expect me to get the tickets!
Thanks Teiz for bringing back those great memories and for the rest of you....keep up your great posting, Iīm going back standing in the shadow again enjoying all of you!

Great story, Diamonds.
We will see you on the next tour! You will have to step out of the shadows again to meet up with us.

You are a true Stones fan if you were willing to see Bon Jovi just to get your friends to a Stones show! Talk about suffering for your art.

Cool story DiamondsDisease. Looks like you got the first gig, which was sold out by the time we got to the counter (those were the days..waiting in line for tickets at a pre-sale point from the middle of the night up to 11 o'clock...by the time we got there, the extra gig just went up for sale, so we got field tickets for may 21st.

Presale for the Voodoo Lounge Tour is one of the more ridiculous episodes: Back then I wasn't informed that well about when en where the tickets would go on sale. So I was hanging out in a bar with a stones-loving friend when we heared a 'rumor' the Stonestickets would go on sale the very next morning. So, in order to be safe, we decided to go to a bigger city than the one we were in.

Problem was, we were way too drunk for any cabby to take us there. Now my buddy had a car in front of the bar, but was in no shape to drive, and neither was I, so we needed someone who would want to come along...there was this girl who didn't have her license yet, but was taking lessons. We decided that was good enough to hand her the wheel. So off we went.

At that time it was four in the morning, and in front of the tourist info center - they used to sell the tickets there in the Netherlands - not a soul was waiting..it was freezing damn hard, we were out of drinks, the girl wanted to go home (on second thought) and when the first newspapers were delivered at six o clock en there was not a word on the tickets show, al hope was lost. We were still to much intoxicated to drive, so the girl got behind the wheel once more and took us home.

I woke up four hours later because my mother was on the phone: Radio announced the tickets were on sale and they were going like madmen. So I stumbled out of bed, called up my buddy and we ran like there was no tomorrow to the nearest sales point we could find.

We managed to get tickets for all three shows without having to stand in line. The place were we bought the tickets was a 150 meters away from the bar we had hung out right before we heared the rumor...
