Once again - all Stones fans have to own "Hollywood Town Hall" by the Jayhawks, an album with guitars like Mick Taylor, and vocal harmonies that sound like Parsons-Hillman-Jagger.

They know what they're doing - you can hear 'em going for it - but they're never imitative or derivative.  If you like Sticky Fingers and Goats Head Soup, you absolutely have to have this.  It's not like any other Jayhawks record.

not a huge fan of any other jayhawks album i've heard other than this one...

HTH is the best.

I like some Jayhawks stuff, but I just can't get into Olson's voice.  I do like Louris' album "Vagabonds" (not that it's very Stonesy sounding).

How could I forget a true Stones-cop: I'm Not That Kat Anymore by Doug Sahm rocks like hell!

All good choices.  I'ma check out some of these that I didn't know  You rock!

That new Deadstring Bros has some sweet ones on it too..

If you like deadstring bros you should check out the Izzys, a criminally, overlooked r&r band who are totally tuned into that whole Exile-era Stones sound, but with their own modern twist. I dig'em

SWAY????

St. Sway told me about them a few years back.  Love their sound, kind of fast-paced Stones punk yet still classic rock.  Gotta check out their last EP; my favorite tune of theirs is probably Highway Blues or Lonely.

I'm not sway, but funny you mention that because it was the mighty sway that turned me onto them here too a while back. You can download mp3s of all their albums from their website, enjoy
