The Stones dont sell records in big quantities anymore (few people do).

The sales of their UMG remasters so far have been toe-curlingly embarrassing. In the US, the sales over the first 3 months for the first batch of 4 remasters was something like 1,200 copies. Consider that UMG paid £15 million for the rights to their back catalogue for a five year period, and you can safely assume that a few executives there are bricking themselves.

The sales of the various remastered 'Exile' will hardly be great either, despite all the hype and the effort that's been put into it. The amount of people who will be bothered to spend £100 on a box set is minimal.

So, the profit margins in CD/Vinyl sales is pretty miniscule. What will in the end justify this reissue will be the merchandise spin-offs. Retro clothing is one part of the Stones 'legacy' that still manages to sell and as they;re primarily a 'brand' for 365 days of the year now (and a 'band' maybe one year in three) then thats where the target 'consumer' will be found.

Well Guess what we all can use CASH !!!
