wouldn't it be great, if we could make our own fuel, if we could grow it, so it may never run out... and if it could burn clean while still gving power to combustion engines... then we not only could be energy efficient, and reduce pollution, we could end our dependance on foreign oil... if only we had some sort of bio-fuel, made from something, like... oh i don't know vegetable oil... that would be really awesome... too bad no one has thought anything up... that's about as stupid as using wind and air too, since sometimes the wind doesn't blow and it gets cloudy... not to mention the eye sore of turbines and cleaning solar panels... wouldn't it be great if the people who bitch about how the govt. isn't doing enough right now, actually stopped being sticks in the mud who refuse change and decides to do something to create a real changer, that would actually help restore things to a way they once were in the envoirment... and really take something back... you fucking assholes!!! god you piss me off!

Obama's knee-jerk reaction in regards to drilling has just been overridden by a Federal judge.

Well, you don't ground the whole fleet when a 737 goes down.

Exactly the correct point.
Thousands of people out of work, BP is not paying them.
The owners of the oil rigs are starting to move the rigs
to Brazil.  This type of departure will be devastating, effecting the the people who
work the rigs all the way to the convenience store owner.

Until there is either a comparable source of non petroleum
energy, oil rigs are here to stay.

You have a good point.  An airline would determine
the problem, cycle the affected planes in for
repair, then cycle them back to service.

For those that have access to HBO, I highly recommend the documentary about natural gas drilling, "Gasland." This industry is about as regulated as the deepwater drilling industry is. Trailer for it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZe1AeH0Qz8

Really? You can't think of a single instance where a fleet of planes were grounded after planes crashed? Maybe to review safety procedures? Bueller? Bueller?

the fire and explosion destroyed the rig, which is really a ship... then all the back-up systems and flow preventers failed. I'm not sure what caused the original explosion and fire... From what I've heard and seen, it may have been preventable, since all inspection and safety regualtions were a joke... as Colbert said, inspections on something like this, should last longer than a Phish concert. Did you know the rig aka ship, which it officially is, was flagged out of the Marshall Islands? Literally an offshore status for an offshore operation... one of the reasons safety regualtions are minimal. Whoever wrote this energy policy and safety procedures must've been connected to the industry... oh wait, they were.... thx Bush/Cheney!!!

I have a feeling that the dispersants used will do more damage then the oil. They have pumped in over 1 million gallons of that stuff. If they are admitting to 1 milllion, then it's probably 10-50 million gallons of poison . Say good bye to the Coral Reefs and God knows how many species we don't even know about.

Here's something almost anyone can do to support the gulf coast:

Abita Beer brews new beer to help save Louisiana's coast and to benefit those impacted by the oil spill.

Abita beer is launching a nationwide effort to raise money for our coast and those impacted by the oil spill.

Abita is brewing a new beer called S-O-S or "Save our Shores."

"It's unfiltered, a little cloudy, the mouth fill on it, the head , it will blow your socks off," said David Blossman, President of Abita beer.

For every bottle of S-O-S sold, Abita will donate $0.75 to the rescue and restoration of the environment, industry and individuals fighting to survive this disastrous oil spill. Abita did a similar fund raiser right after Katrina with "Restoration Pale Ale."

That effort according the brewery raised more than a half million dollars.

S-O-S will be sold in 41 states.

Click here to see a video about the beer: http://www.neworleans.com/news/local-news/421455.html
