The CEO of BP actually had the nerve to say he wants his life back. In regards to the oil spill. So do the 11 guys he killed.

I viewed that last night.
He also said words to the effect that
the Gulf is large & can handle this.
As well that the sickness being felt
by the workers was food poisoning.
Where do they teach this behavior?

I'd say that Morris nails it right here. He is absolutely spot on in his analysis.

Morris: Obama doesn’t have a clue
By Dick Morris - 06/01/10 07:03 PM ET

Conservatives are so enraged at Obama’s socialism and radicalism that they are increasingly surprised to learn that he is incompetent as well. The sight of his blithering and blustering while the most massive oil spill in history moves closer to America’s beaches not only reminds one of Bush’s terrible performance during Katrina, but calls to mind Jimmy Carter’s incompetence in the face of the hostage crisis.

America is watching the president alternate between wringing his hands in helplessness and pointing his finger in blame when he should be solving the most pressing environmental problem America has faced in the past 50 years. We are watching generations of environmental protection swept away as marshes, fisheries, vacation spots, recreational beaches, wetlands, hatcheries and sanctuaries fall prey to the oil spill invasion. And, all the while, the president acts like a spectator, interrupting his basketball games only to excoriate BP for its failure to contain the spill.

The political fallout from the oil spill will, indeed, spill across party and ideological lines. The environmentalists of America cannot take heart from a president so obviously ignorant about how to protect our shores and so obstinately arrogant that he refuses to inform himself and take any responsibility.

All of this explains why the oil spill is seeping into his ratings among Democrats, dragging him down to levels we have not seen since Bush during the pit of the Iraq war. Conservatives may dislike Obama because he is a leftist. But liberals are coming to dislike him because he is not a competent progressive.

Meanwhile, the nation watches nervously as the same policies Obama has brought to our nation are failing badly and publicly in Europe. When Moody’s announces that it is considering downgrading bonds issued by the government of the United States of America, we find ourselves, suddenly, in deep trouble. We have had deficits before. But never have they so freaked investors that a ratings agency considered lowering its opinion of our solvency. Not since Alexander Hamilton assumed the states’ Revolutionary War debt has America’s willingness and ability to meet its financial obligations been as seriously questioned.

And the truth begins to dawn on all of us: Obama has no more idea how to work his way out of the economic mess into which his policies have plunged us than he does about how to clean up the oil spill that is destroying our southern coastline.

Both the financial crisis and the oil come ever closer to our shores — one from the east and the other from the south — and, between them, they loom as a testament to the incompetence of our government and of its president.

And, oddly, to his passivity as well. After pursuing a remarkably activist, if misguided and foolhardy, agenda, Obama seems not to know what to do and finds himself consigned to the roles of observer and critic.

America is getting the point that its president doesn’t have a clue.

He doesn’t know how to stop the oil from spilling. He is bereft of ideas about how to create jobs in the aftermath of the recession. He has no idea how to keep the European financial crisis contained. He has no program for repaying the massive debt hole into which he has dug our nation without tax increases he must know will only deepen the pit.

Some presidents have failed because of their stubbornness (Johnson and Bush-43). Others because of their character flaws (Clinton and Nixon). Still others because of their insensitivity to domestic problems (Bush-41). But now we have a president who is failing because he is incompetent. It is Jimmy Carter all over again.

Who would have thought that this president, so anxious to lead us and so focused on his specific agenda and ideas, would turn out not to know what he is doing?

BP Bars Photos of Dead Wildlife as Bodies Pile Up
— By Kate Sheppard
| Wed Jun. 2, 2010 10:00 AM PDT

...

BP is apparently barring cleanup workers from sharing photos of dead animals that have washed ashore. But whether we're seeing them or not, the bodies are starting to add up.

Late last week, the US Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and other responders issued a tally of the animals collected as of Friday in oil-impacted regions of Alabama, Florida , Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas—dead and alive. Those stats are shocking: 444 dead birds, 222 dead sea turtles, and 24 mammals (including dolphins). I sent a request to the Unified Command office last week asking for data on wildlife collected over a normal time period, pre-oil-disaster, for comparison. I haven't received a reply.

National Wildlife Federation senior scientist Doug Inkley has compiled some of the data on dolphins and sea turtles found stranded so far—meaning both dead and living animals that have clearly been harmed by their exposure to oil. He reports that the 244 sea turtles they found stranded by the spill is between six to nine times the average rate. The 29 stranded dolphins are between two and six times the normal rate for the region. The number of dead and dying critters, Inkley says, is "certainly higher" than usual.

But even these staggering totals might not be anywhere near the real figures. For starters, they don't include the dead animals who may never be counted. Following the Exxon Valdez spill, scientists noted that many carcasses sunk and were never found, meaning the estimated deaths were probably far too low.

You think some Bruce Willis character is out there, and the president is trying to sober him up, so he swim down and set the bomb that stops this or something... you're talking about Bin-laden fer chrissakes... what the hell does that have to do with this...

Hey, it's ok for SCL to bring up "The economy was left in shambles by the previous administration" I can bring up a counter true fact.  Facts, dog, that's all I deal with.  The facts are this oil disaster occured on Federal Land, that makes the US responsible, where Obama is President.  He needs to stop attending fundraisers & get these states help.  He has done nothing.  There are many, many things that should be done.  Why do the mayors of each of these cities have to plead their case for floating booms to protect the marshes to tv networks for weeks at time to get help?  Where is Obama with the National Guard forcing action?   Obama needs to stop sitting on his hands & do something.   This was one of the most pristine environments on earth & he attends fund raisers, or wants to talk to people why Lebron James would look good with the Bulls?

Trouble is if BP left unchecked will do nothing.  You've got the head of BP stating that the Gulf is a big place, the oil will dissipate.
Why yesterday, he had the stones to say "I'd like my life back".  What about the 11 who died?  All the Gov't needs to do is force BP to do more than what they are doing.  Is it really that hard?  Do you like to vacation in the Gulf, or in Miami, or the Outer Shores of NC?  How about some nice seafood from the Chesapeake?  The oil is moving & it's going to effect all of these places.

I don't think that anyone here is blaming Obummer for the leak. Or, for that matter in his inability to plug the damned thing. The blame is all about his ineptitude as a leader and a seemingly nonchalant attitude about it for the first 36 days of the leak. There seemed to be a total disconnect from the president as to the real urgency of the problem. Meanwhile, as Nellie points out, he's attending fundraisers, and waxing on about LeBron James and the NBA, in between rounds of golf.

When he finally does come out and speak to the severity of the problem (day #36 for those keeping score) he does nothing but slam and threaten BP. His moron Interior Sec Ken Salazar says that the Administration is going to, "keep our boot on the neck of BP!" Eric Holder is touring the area and has announced his intention of pressing federal charges on BP and prosecuting "to the fullest extent of the law."

And for what?!?! We all know that BP is going to pay, and pay severely. Hell, they've already lost over $70 billion, and we're still counting. That's before all the civil, and class action suits that will certainly arise. This catastrophe may well destroy the company. We all know that. So why chase the damned ambulances now?!?!

Why is Bobby Jindal still waiting for licences to build sand berms?!?! Why has he had to wait for over a month for some goddamned booms?!?!?! Could it be that Jindal is vocally critical of Obama's agenda? Cynical perhaps, but this president has made it abundantly clear that he has zero respect, and total contempt for anyone that dosen't share his socialist vision for the country. I'm just sayin'.

There has been a severe lack of leadership on display since day one, and that anyone would try and deny that fact is pretty odd.

I wish I could say that I was surprised by his glaring incompetence, but I always knew that Barry was nothing more than a hard left community organizer with zero real world experience.

The conservatives are salivating over this.....
Why? They never cared about the environment before. [/quote]

Quick and concise rebuttal if I may.

Firstly, I am not the damned president. I, posting on a message board, have zero ability to stop the leak, or lead the cleanup process anymore than the people who have been posting on this thread since day one have, or Obama has, for that matter. Obummer's handling of this mess makes Bush's handling of Katrina look down right brilliant by comparison.

Secondly, I am not the one making any attacks. You seem to be the one that can't let go of the anger. I am only angry that we have an incompetent boob running the show. The same people who were so quick to slam Bush for everything seem to turn a blind eye to the piss poor job that Barry has done over the last 18 months. This leak is merely the latest example of his total lack of leadership, and hands off approach to handling the nation's problems.

Thirdly, your complete one sided view of funman's own attacks are pretty telling. The guy constantly slammed people of faith, and his last attack (and it was an attack), of the military was just enough to get me to call him out harshly. That I chose to kill a knat with a howitzer is of no consequence to me. I have since tuned a new leaf as I posted in an earlier post. I'd hate to see him leave (really!) but that's not a choice that I made for him.

If ya can't lift your leg and piss with the big dogs then you can you sit in a puddle with the puppies for all I care.
