I will more than likely play only new stuff. So new, it's not even written. As i am taking my kids, the gigs will be "open age" - like "The Wiggles".
Dates yet to be confirmed (that wont be for months), and it looks like a very limited engagement.
L.A. (IE: Anaheim) & Vegas only - Though i am hoping maybe S.F.
I'll be spending my time at theme parks by the look of it.
My rider will definately state no U.S. domestic beer. Though really, i'll drink anything.
Travel to the U.S. has never been cheaper, and our dollar is really strong, so i can tell ya's, this IS ON! A couple we know just went in December, and are going again in January - but truth be told, i dont want to be on the same bill as them. Not that i am concerned they will upstage me, but because they are BLOODY ANNOYING! But they loved it and having spoken in depth to them last night, i cant wait. I know it's basically for the kids, but i'll have a ball too. I've only been to America once, and i was too young to drink.
I can assure you, i will make up for that this time!
I'm thinking of the Mandalay Bay in Vegas and the actual Disneyland hotel in Anaheim. Both mainly because of the kids. Though i see Mandalay has a in-house tattooist! And the kids dig Chris Angel. I'd love to go somewhere else but time and $$$$$$ might be limited. I seriously might consider Florida instead, but that is sooooo far away and the costs then soar. Hawaii used to be pretty cheap to add on, but not now. And i reckon it would be a great way to break up the flight. Daethgod loved it though (again, when i was there, i was too young. My dad went about 3 years ago and loved it too. Truth be told, i think it would be too much like our Gold Coast as far as the kids go). Thats why i thought S.F. might be good. I liked it last time i was there. Which means nothing, as it was 30 frikking years ago. My dear old departed mum loved San Fran.
I thought of doing an organised tour, but thats too much money and i cant be bothered dealing with idiots more idiotic than me. And i'd feel like a dork. Would it be compulsory to wear check pants, have a camera dangling from my neck, and have a massive pot belly?
Lets face it, Disneyland, Universal - then Vegas - maybe San Diego - then home. Or, after Vegas, go interior a bit. Get all cowboy and all that! My wife and i look at our kids and sigh. Man, if it was just us, we'd do the whole "Route 66" thing! I'd go up to Mass. to see where my Great, Great Grand dad came from. My daughter wanted to know if we would see Obama, but i said he might be a bit busy to see us.
If i do go with the couple who just went, it would be in January. And in a way, that would be alright as we would only meet up with them in Vegas. And a few other Aussies might tag along (groupies, if you like).
If we go alone, i;m thinking March/April of 2011. Seems a long way off, but time flies when you are an old fart like me.
So, any tips would be appreciated.
