Not much sting from the Rays tonight.

And they've dropped under .700...  Shocked

Frustrating! Shields pitched a nice game, but those cold bats aren't going to get it done.

Garza has owned the Sox for a few years now.
I could tell by the lack of his spitting it was not to be his night.

Brutal series! And my Twins drop two to the Yanks.  At least the MAgic won.

Most of my Rocks Off friends on Facebook know that I will be on the Zakk Tyler show Saturday night to talk about the Dock Ellis event I started.  I will be on the Zakk Tyler show this Saturday night between 8-11pm EDT, on national Fox Sports Radio.  I will know the exact time tomorrow.  But I will be mentioning Rocks Off, because it all started here, with the Dock Ellis posts.  I'm going to give a special shout out to Moonie and Jizzy!

The Giants call up Buster Posey. No pressure on the kid. He's just expected to save the franchise that's all. That was clever

Offense only got him one run, but 27 up 27 down (11 K's) took care of that...

Wacky day around the major leagues today. The second pefect game of the season. ARod blasts a ball of a pitchers head that lands in right field. Kendry Morales breaks his leg jumping on home plate after a walk off home run....And strangest of all. The Giants scored 12 runs. Which is more than they have the entire rest of the season combined. What is it baseball announcers always like to say. You come to the park every day and you never fail to see something new.

Should've been another perfect game tonight.

Armando Gallaraga of the Tigers retired 26 Indians in a row - helped by an unbelievable running catch by Austin Jackson for the first out in the ninth.

Umpire Jim Joyce blew the call at first for the final out.
Wasn't even close.

Somewhere Don Denkinger is smiling...

You gotta be joking.  Baseball games already are too f**kin long - add base replays and I'll never watch a World Series again.

Time outs for "official replays" and damn coaching challenges have ruined sporting events

meg, you just have to regulate how they are used. have the home plate umpire or crew chief decide when to review a play....or something like that.

this kid lost immortality because of a blown call.

It's little consolation, but credit Joyce for copping to his mistake afterwards.

Lots of calls for Bud Selig to step in and make it right.

Don't see that happening...

I guess I see it just a little differently.   He will make the history books anyway as the guy who was robbed.

The fan and Manny himself knows he made history! His smile after the call instead of any "in the face" argument said it all!

Just leave the games alone.  Allow for human error.  We are humans I think?

Immortality? Their has already been 2 perfect games this year. The guy blew the call,it's part of the human element of the game. It didn't cost the Tigers a win. That's the most important thing.

New 'Vette to salve Galarraga's pain

Robert Snell / The Detroit News

Detroit -- Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga got robbed of a perfect game Wednesday, but will get a consolation prize today: a new Corvette, courtesy of General Motors Co.

Galarraga will receive a red Corvette, possibly at the game against the Cleveland Indians at 1:05 p.m., according to sources.

Galarraga lost out on a perfect game Wednesday night with two outs in the ninth inning against the Indians by a blown call by umpire Jim Joyce.

Baseball Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig issued the following statement regarding last night's game in Detroit:

"First, on behalf of Major League Baseball, I congratulate Armando Galarraga on a remarkable pitching performance. All of us who love the game appreciate the historic nature of his effort last night.

"The dignity and class of the entire Detroit Tigers organization under such circumstances were truly admirable and embodied good sportsmanship of the highest order. Armando and Detroit manager Jim Leyland are to be commended for their handling of a very difficult situation. I also applaud the courage of umpire Jim Joyce to address this unfortunate situation honestly and directly. Jim's candor illustrates why he has earned the respect of on-field personnel throughout his accomplished career in the Major Leagues since 1989.

"As Jim Joyce said in his postgame comments, there is no dispute that last night's game should have ended differently. While the human element has always been an integral part of baseball, it is vital that mistakes on the field be addressed. Given last night's call and other recent events, I will examine our umpiring system, the expanded use of instant replay and all other related features. Before I announce any decisions, I will consult with all appropriate parties, including our two unions and the Special Committee for On-Field Matters, which consists of field managers, general managers, club owners and presidents."
