my god nellie...we'll need better innings from the bullpen if we're going to get this thing done.

paps? two dingers in the night against the hated rivals? for shame!

meanwhile, your very own justin morneau hits two dingers, goes 3-4 and leads the AL in batting.

Brutal. Sawx are scuffling, and they've got a tough sked coming up - Twins, Phils and Rays.

Going to The Bank on Saturday - Dice K v. Kendrick.

Relief pitchers might be warming up alongside the starters...

No, but the Phillies sure did.

Defense played great behind Dice K.
When Beltre caught that liner and turned it into a DP, I thought it really might happen.

Then Castro dunks one just out of Scutaro's reach...

Tito's gotta be happy that somebody other than Lestah finally pitched a good game.

Wake and Halladay in the rubbah match.

R.I.P. Jose Lima:
NEW YORK -- Former All-Star right-hander Jose Lima died Sunday morning at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 37.

The cause of death was ruled a heart attack, according to his wife, Dorca Astacio.

"Jose was complaining while sleeping and I just thought he was having a nightmare," Astacio told ESPNdeportes.com. "I called the paramedics, but they couldn't help him."

Lima was 89-102 in 13 seasons with the Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets.

He was selected to the All-Star Game with Houston in 1999, when he won a career-high 21 games.

Lima didn't return to the major leagues after being released by the Mets in 2006, when he went 0-4 in four games pitched.

Last winter, Lima played for the Aguilas Cibaenas in the Dominican Republic and had announced plans to do the same in the upcoming season.

Royals designated hitter Jose Guillen, who played with Lima for the Escogido Lions of the Dominican winter league, said he heard of Lima's death before Sunday's game in Kansas City against Colorado.

"A writer told me the news while I was at batting practice and I just dropped the bat. I froze," Guillen said in a telephone interview.

Guillen added that he'll wear the initials JL on his helmet as a sign of respect for his deceased friend.

"This is painful. Jose Lima has died," said Red Sox DH David Ortiz, who also played with Lima in the Dominican league.

Man, I hope so, it sure has been exciting so far! It's really cool to see the city so abuzz again.

If Morneau stays this hot he might actually catch fire.  Dude's smokin! smoking more weed is good for your health

Sox finally took one from your boys, SPS.
Solid outing for Buchholz, and Davis was turrible.

Youk's on fire, and there's still some life left in ol' 34's bat.
8 homahs this month.

Lestah and Shields tomorrow.
Should be a good one...

Sox have had a decent May.  It's pathetic to see the lack of people @ these Rays games, as the
with the best record in baseball is drawing an AAA size crowd.

It’s embarrassing. It's the daily talk on sports radio and I think it's all a bunch of bull.  Yeah, the stadium is kind of goofy and we need a new one, but my opinion is that it's in a good location.  Right off the interstate and easy to access from several counties.  People say if they build the new park in Tampa, more people will go.  I don't beleive it and I don't know what the solution is.  We usually sell well for the Sox and Yanks, but 21.5 K last night sure doesn't reflect it.  The product could not be better and they have already threatened to cut payroll next year.  It's going to break my heart of stone to see CC somewhere else espesially if it's wearing pinstripes.

Got to shuffle your feet!

Tampa Bay Rays' Sean Rodriguez okay after encounter with stingray
By Marc Topkin, Times Staff Writer
In Print: Wednesday, May 26, 2010

ST. PETERSBURG — Infielder Sean Rodriguez earned a painful distinction this week he could do without: the first Ray to be stung by a stingray.

Rodriguez was on the beach Monday morning behind his Redington Beach rental condo when he took his 2-year-old daughter, Sofia, a couple of feet into the water for a closer look at some dolphins.

A few steps (and a stingray shuffle or two) later, he saw something flash through the water and felt something on his right heel.

"I actually thought it was a catfish at first, that it grazed me. I didn't think much of it," Rodriguez said. "And then I got out of the water, and I was like whoooaaaa."

Shortstop Jason Bartlett and his 1-year-old son Jaden were with the Rodriguezes and lent an handy assist.

"He heard me screaming and he goes, 'What got you?' and I was like, 'Man, I don't know,' " Rodriguez said. "I was coming out of the water and there was just straight blood shooting out, like a straight line."

Bartlett ran and got a towel to help Rodriguez stem the bleeding, and since neither was sure exactly what to do — and their wives were out jogging — they knew they had better get medical assistance.

"I ran up and called 911 and had the paramedics come out just in case," Bartlett said. "They got there, they looked at it and they're like, yeah, it's a stingray. We were panicking, wondering if they've got poison in them, and they're like just put it in hot water and treat it like a cut."

Aside from the scary-looking trail of blood he left on the beach, Rodriguez, 25, said he was fine and with some padding able to put on his spikes and play. He wound up being needed, replacing Carl Crawford when he was ejected in the fifth.

Having grown up in Miami, he has spent plenty of time in water, has stepped on various things and been stung by jellyfish, but this was his first encounter with a stingray.

Maybe, he theorized, it was karmic convergence because he and his cousin had been fishing another day, accidentally hooked a ray and had to cut the line.

"I think that guy went to his buddies and said, 'Hey I've got a hook in my mouth, it's time for payback,' " Rodriguez said. "It got me."
