I knew somebody who was a close friend to MICK (he sadly passed away in 2007) and he told me MICK did stay up late at night visiting the various Stones boards. He gets really mad at some of the shit people post too. Yeah, MICK has feelings too! I know MICK reads the boards, or he did a for a few years anyway. Not sure if he still does but I bet MICK still does lurk when he is awake at night, on the computer. He posted on his own board under a fake name. PM me if you want to know what name he used. I dont want to get MICK annoyed because it was/is a secret. KEEF doesnt read or post on the boards. RONNIE also reads the boards. Charlie doesnt.
Interesting.
I personally find it very hard to envisage Mick Jagger, legendary lothario and social butterfly that he is, having nothing better to do with his time in the wee small hours of the night than sitting in his dressing gown, cup of cocoa in hand, anxiously clicking on Stones message boards to find out what's being said about him or his band. The image is pretty hilarious!
I find it even harder to envisage him losing a minute's sleep over it either!
He was asked in an AOL interview around 97/98 (one of those ones where fans could submit questions) about whether he ever read message boards and he said something along the lines that he occasionally took a peek and would get a good laugh at some of the fights.
I'd imagine the novelty would wear off pretty quick, though!
That admission was one of the worst things that ever happened to the 'official' Stones message boards. It was the perfect excuse for scores of unbalanced lunatics (usually hormonally imbalanced women) to flood the boards with utter drivel in the delusional belief that he'd be reading it and might whisk them away for a lifetime of idyllic pleasure. One absolute mental case actually used to bombard me with about ten e-mails a day because, due to the fact that I was providing some tour updates for fans (whilst the official site weren't bothering at all), she got it into her head that I might just be Keith Richards.
