yup. I think all that Jan Hammer spidery Moog and Arp synth stuff kinda turned me off, that stuff was so ubiquitous in the '70's and I was young and wanted more guitars, songs, danceable rhythms, and general wildness (hence the Clash, Pistols, Ramones, etc. And the Stones latest always did it for me).

my thoughts as well - it wasn't Beck's guitar that let Blow by Blow down rather the synth noodling and the rather "lame" (as you put it) drumming

Yeah- no complaints about Beck's guitar work; just the context I always hear it in. Very solid and inventive; I just want to hear him with a good rock n'roll band (like the track from that Pretenders album from a few years ago).
