Bill wasn't flashy, but Bill was Bill and really the ONLY perfect bass player for this band.

I mean, if I was cooped up with Mick and Keith for 30+ years, would I want to hang around anymore either?  they are ruthless fucking bastards regardless of the amazing music they have created over the years.

Charlie really is a saint with a cast iron shield around his soul.  i can't believe he has stuck around for the entire time.

Absolutely what I was thinking, Mick T. couldn't handle it, look what happened to Ronnie, a lot of people from the 60's/70's became drug addicts or alcoholics & died, Michael Cooper, that great guy who played piano on a lot of their albums, Nicky Hopkins, the list could do on & on, the only people who survived are the 3 original Stones.

I think you mean Al Kooper, Michael Cooper was a photographer and yes, he passed away by heroin overdose in the early 70s

Anyway Al Kooper only played keyboards and French horn on YCAGWYW and guitar on Memo from Turner, so probably you're talking about Jack Nitzsche

Sorry Voodoo, it was the way I worded it, it's Nicky Hopkins I was talking about.

In an interview with MTV producer Bill Flanagan to promote his new album 'Together Through Life', Dylan said he regards The Rolling Stones as a mere "funk band" without Wyman on board.

The bassist quit the band in 1990, after nearly three decades service.

"I'm not saying they don't keep going, but they need Bill," he said. "Without him they're a funk band. They'll be the real Rolling Stones when they get Bill back."

Earlier in the interview, Dylan said he thinks The Rolling Stones are "pretty much finished," reports Bobdylan.com.

Flanagan then accused Dylan of being stuck in the '80s, before asking him if he really thinks The Rolling Stones are finished as a band.

"Of course not, they're far from finished," Dylan replied. "The Rolling Stones are truly the greatest rock and roll band in the world and always will be. The last too.

"Everything that came after them, metal, rap, punk, new wave, pop-rock, you name it...you can trace it all back to The Rolling Stones. They were the first and the last and no one's ever done it better."

Hope Bill is happy these days. He really was part of the trilogy of sound with Charlie and Keith that drove the Stones engine. Never been the same without him.

If BILL changed his mind and decided to come back I am sure MICK and KEEF would say bye-bye Darryl, thanks for the memories! But BILL let fear overpower him and fear is the worst enemy of success. So it's BILL's struggle and maybe if he went to a shrink they may help him overcome it. It's never too late!
