I don't feel the least bit guilty about loving other bands/artists, the sky is the limit with me, I like middle of the road/candlelight & wine music (Engelbert Humperdinck/Tony Bennett/Sinatra, Carpenters, etc) any songs from the 60's/70's in rock/pop, the only bands I can think of I never cared for are Freddy & The Dreamers & KISS, I like classical (Mozart/Bach/Haydon/Vivaldi/Dvorak/Beethoven)
Classical Guitar (Christopher Parkening/ John Williams/ Julian Bream) Motown, Blues, you name it, I like.
I have 1300 or so songs on my computer from 50's/60's/70's & 80's, I'm more prone to play a collection of different bands/artists then just one all the time unless it's The Stones or I really like one particular album.

Christopher Parkening is amazing! My husband is a classical guitarist {but also plays folk, covers, originals, etc}. and we spent quite a bit of time with Parkening before a concert we had at our church years ago. Truly talented, and a great guy..

That's great Sioux, he is my all time favorite classical guitarist, I seen him at Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto in the 80's, his interpretation of Bach's "Jesu, Joy Of Man's Desiring" is like the heavens opening up to me, fantastic! & his playing of well known Christian hymns are beautiful.

This is my attempt to try to play like him, but don't come close, the date is on the video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCFEk6Y8TmMLa donna e mobile
qual piuma al vento,
muta d'accento
e di pensiero.
Sempre un'amabile
leggiadro viso,
in pianto o in riso,
e mensognero.

La donna e mobil
qual pium al vento
muta d'accento...
e di pensier....
e di pensier...
e di pensier.

E' sempre misero
chi a lei s'affida,
chi le confida,
mal cauto il core!
Pur mai non sentesi
felice appieno
chi su quel seno,
non liba amore!

La donna e mobil
qual pium al vento
muta d'accento...
e di pensier.
e di pensier...
e di pensier.

Sometimes I still listen Rigoletto. I got a vast collection of classical music and opera.
But in these days, I enjoy more hearing Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Bethoveen.
When I am in my blue days, listen this kind of music cool me down. Relax me.
But every day I'll change always, depends from my mood

i agree with those who are guilt-free....
anything goes if i like it.
and i like the Eagles - The Long Run was the first album i looked forward to before it came out.
If you grew up on am radio - the sky really is the limit and i have particular soft spot for am 70s pop...i just heard Chicago's "Wishing you Were Here" on an independent oldies station just outside Houston and wanted to hear it again and i sing along to American Pie, that Dan Fogleberg song about meeting his old lover in the grocery store.... everytime i hear them, word-for-word.
I think "guilty pleasures" are the best kind of pleasures because they come from something unpretentious and honest.

I used to loathe that song when it was originally out. Now, to my ears, it's tolerable. I really liked their version of Dear Prudence.

HOS, that is wonderful! Smiley I notice you recorded it on my birthday, way back in '93. Smiley Yeah, my husband has played Jesu in a lot of weddings.

Another GREAT guitarist, and musican/writer/singer who we know is also a Christian artist, but he was also in Glass Harp. Smiley Phil Keaggy. Wonderful guy and I just love to hear him play/sing. My husband was pretty nervous when he had to open for him! He's opened for a lot of people, including Dave Mason, and I think that one was a bit nerve-wracking too. He was SUPPOSED to open for Steve Howe {Yes}, but Steve is pretty insecure and he was afraid he'd be upstaged. And, he probably would have been.  Smiley He's a good enough guitarist, but not exceptional. So, we just nicely sat and listened, met him afterwards {and I had him sign a few albums}, and I didn't mention that my husband was supposed to be his opening act... Roll Eyes Shit!

Thanks Sioux, back around that date I made a video of my playing for a Xmas gift for my Sisters (they all older then me) it included Easy listening, Hymns, familiar Classical Guitar pieces, etc,   in those days it was VHS tapes, for years I wouldn't put it on Youtube, but a few suggested I should so I got the nerve up & did it.
I'll have to look up Phil Keaggy on Youtube, I never heard of him before, another C. guitarist is Rick Foster who is Christian, he transcribed "Jesu, Joy" for C. Parkening, but I feel he isn't as good player as a lot of others, especially Parkening.
