I agree Zack. Too much editing. Maybe they will re-release 25X5 with the performances in full on DVD. At the time it made sense so they could keep it down to one video tape.
No sense in releasing a career retrospective thats already 20 years out of date. (The notion from the title that the Stones started in '64 was a bit nonsensical as well).
Would have made sense to have officially released 'Let It Bleed', the updated version done by Rossacher and Dolezal in 2002 and shown only in France and Germany - unquestionably the BEST visual documentary ever on the Stones - but no doubt something else will be pencilled in for 2012 for the 50th anniversary (or 2014, if Lorne Michaels still believes thats the date of the Golden Jubilee)
I didn't know about Let It Bleed. I'd be interested in seeing that. Thank you for the tip.
Granted, 25X5 is 20 years out of date however it still serves a purpose. It's as much of a snapshot of it's time as it is a retrospective because of the interviews.
And Gazza I'm sure you are right about 2012. The Golden Anniversary won't be ignored.
