Johnny Cash's American VI: Ain't No Grave Due Out in February

...

Johnny Cash’s next posthumous release in the Rick Rubin-helmed “American” series and first official follow-up to American V: A Hundred Highways from his infamous recording sessions in the months between the death of June Carter and his own last days in the fall of 2003 will hit shelves on the week of his birthday in February of next year.

According to the founder of Cash’s official site and an Amazon import listing, the album will come out on February 23 (Cash’s birthday is the 26th) and is titled American VI: Ain’t No Grave. No official confirmation has come through the wire just yet and both the artwork above and the track list below are in a pseudo-rumored stage at this point, but here’s the list of tracks to (possibly) make the cut:

Ain’t No Grave
Redemption Day
For The Good Times
First Corinthians
Where I’m Bound
Satisfied Mind
It Don’t Hurt Anymore
Cool Clear Water
Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream
Aloha

Don't say it Bucks...we had this ridiculous Elvis tour last year. Pictures of The King on a video screen and shitty b-artists singing 'duets'.

ok teiz...agreed...no tour...but there had better be by the time "american XXVII" comes out.

speaking of raising the dead, i had a dream last night that i had a photosession with two zombies who were buried in the new twins stadium. the session took place in my grandparents' old house. too bad my daughter woke me up at 6:15...i didn't find out how it ends!

Like Teiz, I'm looking forward to 'American VI'.
Rick Rubin did wonders for Johnny in his last years.

Do you have any Cash in your collection, Starbuck?

The liner notes in 'Unearthed' said that there were some 50-odd tracks recorded for 'American V'.
One of my favorites is 'Further On Up The Road'.

There may be a few more releases after 'American VI', but not enough for XXVII...

'Hurt' was chosen as the decade's best video in a Rolling Stone reader's poll.

Great stuff...

The song 'Ain't No Grave' is streaming at www.johnnycashradio.com

It's also posted on YouTube.

The album's being released on February 26th, which would have been The Man In Black's 78th birthday.

Really looking forward to it.

As a Cash aside, I checked out this vintage SB show from 75.  Just getting it now myself so can't comment on the quality, but it looks sweet.

Second item, after the Queen.
