Ronnie Wood to host Absolute Radio show

Rolling Stones guitarist to front weekly programme made by independent production company Somethin' Else

Ronnie Wood, the Rolling Stones guitarist, is to present a weekly show on rock music station Absolute Radio and its digital sibling, Absolute Classic Rock.

The Ronnie Wood Show, which will be produced by independent production company Somethin' Else, will broadcast first on the digital station on Friday evening and be repeated on Absolute Radio on Saturday night.

Absolute Classic Rock relaunched this week, branding itself the home of the "Great British Guarantee" with a playlist featuring The Who, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Queen and the Rolling Stones.

"Ronnie will deliver a playlist that comes straight from his heart, playing music that he loves and is passionate about, all accompanied by his uniquely fascinating stories, experiences and memories and using his trusted guitar to illustrate elements of the tunes played and to accompany him," said Absolute.

The Friday show will launch at 6pm on April 9. The Saturday repeat will air at 10pm.

Tony Moorey, the Absolute Radio content director, said: "Think fantastic music, and one man and his guitar in your living room, but that man being one of rock's gods, Ronnie Wood. It's not often that we have a genuine opportunity to strike a radio relationship with a rock legend ... The Ronnie Wood Show is that opportunity."

It is the latest Absolute Radio show to be awarded to an independent production company, after Frank Skinner's Saturday morning show and Dave Gorman's Sunday morning slot, which are both made by Avalon.

Absolute Radio has signed the legendary Ronnie Wood to present a brand new show on Absolute Classic Rock, starting on Friday 9 April 2010. Ronnie will deliver a playlist that comes straight from his heart, playing music that he loves and is passionate about, all accompanied by his uniquely fascinating stories, experiences and memories and using his trusted guitar to illustrate elements of the tunes played and to accompany him.

From April 9 The Ronnie Wood Show will offer a unique insight into both Ronnie Wood's music collection and his life as one record leads to another, which sparks off another memory and another tale to tell. Ronnie will invite you into his life as every record he plays will comes with another story - a memory, a tale of debauchery or inspiration. Listeners will enjoy fantastic music mixed with entertaining stories from a rock and roll legend and throughout this compelling hour of music and nostalgia, Ronnie will be casually twanging, strumming and picking riffs on his acoustic and other guitars between tracks.

Nobody knows the direction which each show will take, but every week we'll be taken on a journey by a man who has been there and done that. From his life in the Jeff Beck Group, Faces, Birds and Rolling Stones, Ronnie Wood has got a lifetime of stories to tell and songs to play and we're delighted we're going to be able to do that here on Absolute Classic Rock.

Liberty of London! The only item in RONNIE's collection that I like is the scarf ~ but it's $250.00! Drop a 0 and I would buy it for $25.00, butr $250 is ridiculously overpriced! He must of been drunk when he painted them and when he priced them! I dont expect many of these items will sell, even die hard fans arent that crazy! I could be wrong but I think it's way over the top!
