Right GK. Even though all Ronnie news lately has been good. It's almost better not to hear anything. At least he's not a three day bender somewhere.

Jimi Hendrix - Ronnie Wood: Jimi Hendrix Didn't Like His Own Voice

Ronnie Wood: Jimi Hendrix Didn't Like His Own Voice

Jimi Hendrix ''never liked the sound of his own voice'' and would ''worry'' about his vocals, according to his former flat mate, The Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood.

Jimi Hendrix "never liked the sound of his own voice".

The Rolling Stones axeman Ronnie Wood used to share a flat with the late guitarist and singer/songwriter in London and would constantly have to reassure him about his vocal abilities.

Talking on his Absolute Radio show, Ronnie said: "Jimi never used to like the sound of his own voice. I used to say, 'How was the gig tonight?' and he would go, 'Oh, the guitar was okay, man, but my voice', he said, 'I really can't sing'.

"I said 'Look, you're not doing a bad job, man, don't worry about it', you know, and he used to sort of worry about it, and I'd say 'Look, it's all part of the side effect', I said 'I think it goes great with the way you strum and play amazing guitar'."

Ronnie is "honoured" to have spent time with the musician, who he describes as a "well-mannered boy", and he even got chance to say goodbye to him at Ronnie Scott's legendary jazz club in London's Soho on the night he died in September 1970 aged 27.

He added: "Jimi was really laid-back to live with, didn't say much because he was always in the clouds a little bit.

"Jimi was a really sweet, well-mannered boy, and I'm very honoured to have shared a little space of time with him back in the late 60s.

"I was with Jimi the night he died at Ronnie Scott's, and he was walking down the stairs with his arm around this girl and I said to him, 'Jimi, say goodnight', and he didn't turn round.

"I said, 'Jimi! Say goodnight', and he turned round really slowly, out of his brain, and just gave me a little stoned wave, and that was the last the world saw of him. Very sad, very sad departure."

Showing his age: Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie Wood, 64, opts for fancy walking stick instead of crutch after operation

Ronnie Wood’s 64 years finally seem to be catching up with him.

...
The Rolling Stone’s guitarist was spotted leaving top London restaurant The Ivy with a fancy new walking stick.

He has undergone an operation on his foot, but has shunned a standard-issue hospital crutch in favour of a hand carved wooden stick.

Looking like something sawn from the leg of a piano, the elaborate wooden stick helped the star as he walked off into the night.

Helping to keep the cold out from his increasingly thin frame, Mr Wood wrapped up in a grey and black scarf, grey blazer and matching cardigan.

Leaving alone, the musician-turned-DJ has been keeping a relatively low profile in recent months, since he split from his Brazilian model girlfriend Ana Araujo, 32, who was known to enjoy big nights out on the town.

But he did make an appearance on stage at the O2 Arena in London during Sir Paul McCartney’s recent show there last month.

He joined the singer for a rendition of Beatles classic Get Back.

...

More recently he has been linked with a 25-year-old blonde Nicola Sargent, who he met at a London jewellers where she worked.

The two were spotted out together and in October and the young woman from Northern Ireland posted pictures of the pair alongside DJ and TV presenter Lauren Laverne and Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones.

He split from Miss Araujo in October, saying at the time: ‘I’m taking a sabbatical from her.

I’m like Picasso, painting up the ladder after leaving his mistress at the bottom after a row.’

According to friends, Mr Wood preferred to stay at home and rest, rather than partying.

A friend explained Miss Araujo’s desire to be in the spotlight had ‘frustrated’ him, adding: ‘She would try and drag him along to the opening of an envelope.’

Mr Wood began dating the 32-year-old in  January 2010, a month after his relationship with cocktail waitress Ekaterina Ivanova ended.

As a seasoned Fantasy Fulfillment Professional, I am here to advise if you plan on traveling to see the Stones or any other rock act, should a performer from that band take ill, causing cancellation or re-scheduling of the concert you were planning to attend,  trip cancellation & interruption insurance will only cover you in the event of illness of an immediate family member.  There may be upgrades to the policy to cover cancellation for any reason.  Choose your insurance products wisely.  As a last resort, enjoy the city you were to visit if the band cancels their concert.  Thank you for your attention to this detail.

I think Ticketbastard offers insurance, as well.

I wonder if anyone has actually collected on that.

Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood to debut radio show in North America this weekend

Posted by Something Else!

...
Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood is ready to start up his own radio show in America.

The Ronnie Wood Show features the guitarist playing a variety of music from his favorite new and established artists, while sharing personal stories from his legendary music career. Wood has also welcomed friends, music artists, celebrities and others such as Slash, Kenney Jones and Mary Wilson. It airs for the first time January 29 on Q104.3/WAXQ-FM in New York. (Listen here!)

“I’m so excited to have my own radio show in America,” says Wood, who also had memorable stints with the Jeff Beck Group and the Faces. “I love going down the archives every week playing some of my favorite music of all time, while reminiscing and taking a trip down memory lane. It’s more than a music show, it’s an education, so sit back and enjoy the ride!”

Launched in April 2010, the Ronnie Wood Show currently airs on Absolute Radio in the UK. Premiere Networks says the one-hour, U.K.-based radio program is available to rock music stations on weekends from 6 a.m. to midnight.

Here are some of our previous thoughts on Ronnie Wood and the Rolling Stones. Click through the links for complete reviews …

ROLLING STONES – SOME GIRLS: LIVE IN TEXAS ’78 (2011): The full-on, balls-out Some Girls was perfectly uncluttered — no horn section, no guest stars like Billy Preston. That gives this subsequent live set from the summer of 1978 a chance to build off the record’s latent energy, rather than fruitlessly try to match it. Instead, this is a stripped-down wonder: no digital movie screens, no huge scaffolding for Mick Jagger to prance on, no big light show. Just a band playing.

RON WOOD AND THE FIRST BARBARIANS – LIVE FROM KILBURN (2007): Ron Wood was still a member of The Faces when he put out I’ve Got My Own Album To Do. This live recording (and DVD) is from that tour, featuring Wood on guitar, Faces buddy Ian McLagan, and even an appearance by Rod Stewart. Future Rolling Stones cohort Keith Richards is there, too. I’ve always been more of a fan of Wood’s Gimme Some Neck, but that doesn’t stop me from turning this record up way too loud.

ROLLING STONES – A BIGGER BANG (2005): I listened to ‘A Bigger Bang’ expecting a lot of the generic glossy pop of their more recent output. Instead, the classic mid-period Stones sound is back. That sound is updated, for sure, and Mick’s voice is deeper. But Jagger’s swagger is back. Keith Richards (who actually sings with some effort on a few tracks) and Ronnie Wood are playing together as well as ever. And Charlie Watts can still lay down some mean rhythms. The results sound like the same band who put out Let It Bleed and Sticky Fingers, even if it’s not up to par with those classics. And at this point, that’s plenty good enough for me.

GIMME FIVE: ROLLING STONES IN THE 1990s: There was no reason to believe that the Rolling Stones, 30 years into their dangerously debauched rock career, would make anything worth a damn out of the 1990s. A band that made its name on skirt chasing and drug taking was softening into middle age. No one would have been surprised if the Stones simply ground to a halt. Only, they reformed in the wake of Richards’ successes with Talk Is Cheap, and by the middle part of the next decade, the Rolling Stones were in the midst of a small very-late career resurgence. Here are five arguments for continuing your Rolling Stones collection into the 1990s

Ronnie needs rest to recover, and a personal chef to prepare him some healthy and filling meals, hes looking very thin. I wonder if this operation had something to do with the kick KEEF gave him at the Atlantic City show. Woody complained about that night that he could barely move throughout the show and had a difficult time with the gig. Not sure if KEEF kicked him as a joke or if he bumped into him or stomped him accidently, Does anyone remember this?

I was front row at the Boise show just a couple of days earlier, and Ronnie wasn't getting around the stage very well then.

Seems kinda messed up that Keith would kick Ronnie, assuming that Keith knew that Ronnie was already hurt.

The Edge And Ronnie Wood Working Together

by RTT Staff Writer
http://www.rttnews.com

(RTTNews) - U2's The Edge and Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones are teaming up to work on a new app WholeWorldBand, which will allow for musicians worldwide to share music.

According to Music Week, WholeWorldBand was developed by Kevin Godley (10CC) and Andy Wood (Hypergallery, Cubic Motion).

"WholeWorldBand is a revolutionary new online music tool that provides a new platform for distribution while offering the opportunity of new revenue streams for up and coming and established musicians, bands and, in fact, anyone," Godley said.

Aside from The Edge and Wood, Gavin Friday, Gemma Hayes, Cathy Davey, Mick Pyro (Republic of Loose) and Liam Ó Maonlaí (Hot House Flowers) are working on performances and collaborations for WholeWorldBand.

The new app debuts at the Music Show in Dublin on February 25 to 26 and will be available to download from the iTunes store starting in March.

I hope Ronnie doesnt get strung out on pain pills now. The eyes are glazed in his latest pic. An operation such as this you can get scripts for what you need and what you want, no questions asked.  Just a bit worried given the history.
