It's a Boy for Rod Stewart
By Rennie Dyball and Anne Marie Cruz

Thursday February 17, 2011 12:00 PM EST

Facebook Twitter E-mail Rod Stewart is singing one happy tune.

He and his wife, Penny Lancaster Stewart, welcomed their second son together, Aiden, on Wednesday. He weighed in at 7 lbs., 12 oz.

"Mother and baby are healthy and blissfully happy," a rep for the couple tells PEOPLE.

The new arrival also came just in time for Lancaster's birthday – she turns 40 in March.

Wood: I was frightened by Joplin
Friday, 18 February 2011

...
Ronnie Wood has a new radio show

Ronnie Wood has revealed how he was "frightened" when Janis Joplin chased him.
The Rolling Stones guitarist was caught off guard and tried to escape when the late blues songstress, brandishing a bottle, followed him at a party in Detroit.

"It was really frightening when she was chasing me - it was like a cartoon character chasing you with a bottle of Southern Comfort, like 'Aargh', and Big Brother from the Holding Company got me out of the bathroom window," he said.

Ronnie, who has been friends with many rock stars like Jimi Hendrix and reggae greats Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley, regrets not saying hello to Elvis Presley when the Jailhouse Rock singer was in hospital.

"I went along to say, 'I'm here to see Elvis', and they were like 'Oh no' and I went 'Alright'. At the time there was Jimmy Page and Robert Plant in there with him in the room," he recalled.

"I found this out later. I knew at the time I was going to regret it but I didn't want to name-drop and do the whole 'Do you know who I am?'"

Now with his own radio show, The Ronnie Wood Show, on Absolute Radio, Ronnie hopes former bandmates Mick Jagger and Keith Richards will drop in.

"They've all said they'd like to do it but it's just a case of getting all the schedules to coincide," he said.

"Keith said I'll do the show and Mick and Rod. So it's just a matter of trapping them down."

The Ronnie Wood Show is on Monday to Thursday at 4pm, Friday at 8pm and Saturday at 10pm.

“What rap did that was impressive was to show there are so many tone-deaf people out there,” he says. “All they need is a drum beat and somebody yelling over it and they’re happy. There’s an enormous market for people who can’t tell one note from another.” - Keef

Ronnie-Wood-buys-London-theatre-tickets-for-Million-Dollar-Quartet

Tuesday, 1 March 2011
http://www.uktheatretickets.co.uk/article/800435208/Ronnie-Wood-buys-London-thea...

...

Ronnie Wood was among the celebrities to have bought London theatre tickets for Million Dollar Quartet this week.

Reporters for the Daily Mail spotted the Rolling Stones rocker as he headed to the Noel Coward Theatre with his 31-year-old girlfriend Ana Araujo.

Also showing a keen interest in the new musical was his former bandmate Bill Wyman, Suzi Quatro and musician-turned-fashionista Brix Start Smith.

Wood, whose divorce was recently finalised, did not say what he thought of the show afterwards, but it might have been a hit given that it features music from Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley.

Anyone who goes to see the musical will be able to watch Bill Ward as Sam Phillips alongside Ben Goddard (Lewis), Derek Hagen (Cash), Robert Britton Lyons (Perkins) and Michael Malarkey (Presley).

Million Dollar Quartet is based on the true story of when the musicians and eventual legends all took part in an impromptu jam session organised by Phillips at Sun Records in Memphis

Ronnie's always been the type of guy who'll turn up to the opening of an envelope.

Surprised to some degree he's still doing so. If I'd Ana hanging on to me like that, I'd never want to leave the house. Maybe he just needs to come up and get out for some air occasionally.

Nice package.

It'll be going for around £100, from what I understand.

Sounds like Ronnie is tailoring his musical releases and concerts to the same exclusive market as his paintings, ie small numbers aimed at obsessives with deep pockets.

I would like to assume that the signed album has been done personally and isnt just a reproduction, otherwise thats nothing that a bootlegger couldnt have come up with for a third of the price.

In fairness to Matt Lee, who put the project together, and for the benefit of any collector who's interested in Ronnie's live album, this is the post he made on IORR about it :

I very much enjoy and appreciate the lively debate and knowledge on IORR and although my contributions are relatively infrequent, I will stand up and be counted on this one. The release was originally my concept and as the executive producer I contributed to it throughout. Ronnie's concerts at the Ambassadors Theatre last October were so well received and the simple idea was to release a complete show (beginning to end, no cuts, no over dubs, no track reordering). This is the first time The Stones or a solo Stone has ever released a full show and something I know many of us would like to see more of!

As a very serious collector myself (see add photos of your rarities) I don't like projects that I feel are overpriced and seek to take too much advantage of the value and don't in anyway reflect the cost of production plus a reasonable margin (I have spoken about these before). I was determined not to let any project I was involved in fall into this trap. I know many will be disappointed that it isn't on CD, and to be honest, so am I. Unfortunately, whichever way you cut the maths selling a relatively low number of CD's just doesn't add up.

Pure economics determines the only way to make the costs of the musicians fees, artists royalties, design, website, mastering etc... divide out is to produce a higher value limited edition. If you are going to make a collectible product then it has to be vinyl (IMHO). Vinyl also allowed us to pack a large box with goodies; the concert date guitar pick, the concert poster, the hand signed 8x10 (and yes Ronnie did sign each and every one in person) etc...

Please note, that unlike bootlegs, with an official release all artists royalties and performance fees get paid! Don't forget value added tax is 20% (included in the sale price) and credit card fees are 3.9%!

It will only be available direct from Ronnie's site avoiding any retailer margins and meaning every penny can go into making this a truly wonderful set. It is a really great value package which I think is worth twice the price! As a passionate collector I wouldn't have had it any other way.

I really hope everyone who buys one loves it!

I appreciate Matt Lee's post on IORR about this. But since he says no one is making a large sum of money off of this anyway. Could'nt thet have just made a regular Cd that might have appealed to a few more peoples ontsead of an all bells and whistles collector's package?Seems to me,if you ain't making a ton on this elitest looking vinyl package. I don't think they'd do a lot worse with a regular cd release. Are they worried about bootleggers? I don't think they'd lose a huge sum of money all things considered.
