They've known each other for several years, having become acquainted at the height of their well publicised addictions.
But after both finding sobriety, the burgeoning friendship between former hellraisers Ronnie Wood and Amy Winehouse is continuing apace.
After spending the New Year in Uruguay's plush resort of Punta Del Este, the Rolling Stones guitarist, 63, crossed over the border to visit his famous friend in Brazil.

Wood was spotted visiting Winehouse at the £700-per-night Santa Teresa Hotel in the hills overlooking Rio's Guanabara Bay.
The two musicians were spotted deep in conversation as they enjoyed an afternoon stroll around the hotel's tropical garden.
Although she welcomed 2011 in London, Winehouse, 27, has spent the past few days in Rio in preparation for a series of gigs in South America, where she is expected to preview some new material.

It's been just over four years since she released her Grammy-winning album Back To Black.
Wood has been closely following Winehouse's career since 2003 and advised her to ditch her now ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil.

In 2007, just a few months after the pair married, Wood said: 'It has to come from within her. She has to feel more confident in herself. Hang out with winners. If you hang out with losers and dealers you end up in the sink.
'You pay your money and you take your chance - and if you've got any sense, you'll try to live.'

Woods himself has been sober for 10 months, creditting his new girlfriend Ana Araujo for helping him beat his alcohol addiction.
Her recent Russian gig - for which she was paid £1million - was the first full show she had performed since 2008.
She hit the headlines then as a result of her turbulent private life which has seen her battle drink and drug problems and a failed marriage.

She appeared on Strictly Come Dancing last year as a backing vocalist to her 13-year-old goddaughter Dionne Bromfield, and performed four songs at a low-key event in October to mark the launch of her clothing range for Fred Perry.
Amy is reportedly set to pocket around £300,000 from her six Brazilian shows.
She is currently recording the long-awaited follow-up to her second album Back To Black. The as-yet-untitled album has yet to be given a release date.
