This is bad news and bodes ill for a new tour.....No renewals may mean no activity...I'm so starved for a tour I'd bite the bullet and re-up. But based on all the tour tickets I have bought since 72 and merchandise and 5 times remastered cds the buggers should play in my living room for free.
Dont agree. I think its a case of a lot of renewals expiring at this time of year - a lot of people bought memberships in December '05 for example when the 2006 leg was announced, so following on from that a lot of memberships are up for renewal at times of the year (May, December etc) when theres traditionally been a lot of past activity with tour announcements etc.
They're doubtless aware of the widespread dissatisfaction and have probably noticed that a large percentage of people aren't renewing because they arent going to be so gullible and fall into the same '$100 for nothing' trap that they did before (remember in '04 when so many people blindly re-subscribed simply because the mailshot promised them 'priority tickets should the band announce any shows' - which many people naively interpreted as a sign that a tour would take place).
So, they're going to have this void of several months before any tour is announced and they're just extending the period of memberships to reflect that. They've actually done this before, to be fair.
If people feel its worth $100 when a tour is announced to pay for this service then thats their own business, but certainly anyone who pays for a membership renewal when there's no guarantee of any shows taking place is a mug and deserves to be fleeced again.
