Hardly a major accomplishment to turn up there considering all of them except Keith live there for at least 10 months of the year!! Wink

And if Keith ain't there, there's no Stones.

What you're saying Gazza,.. may scare me. No Stones?
No Party. Wink

No, Lina. What I meant was that if Keith wasnt present, then its highly unlikely that the rest of the Stones would be recording together.  Smiley

Someone has to whip them into shape. Smiley

I have a hunch they're not recording new material. I think 2010 will be given over to marketing the Exile reissue, including any possible live dates. The old stuff sells better. It worked with Licks, after all. Maybe Mick will put out a solo record nobody cares about to feel current, but I'd say some outtakes from Exile w/ new overdubs are most likely. That's my two cents.

Gazza,
A simple act, someone has to make the dirty work..
Find out where is Keith. And whip him on.
Take out Mick from the Notting Hill Boutique or any party he could be.. whip him too
Throw them in a recording room, and lock them once again.
You've to stay outsisde as you were a whippin' post.
tied them to the whippin post.
Andrew O, has back said them. Dont make sense my post, but I dont delete. Smiley

Maybe not a bad idea based on the lackluster ABB, I'll be missing the "rush" of a new Stones release though...Granted with some more inspired playing and production and only 10 songs it could have been a different story.

A horrible concept, if it happened.

Mick Jagger touring behind a record he doesnt like or believe in that much and then not wanting to play many songs from it after the tour starts.

Cant see that happening.....oh, wait a minute,  they did that last time out.

Which was quite understandable, because Bang was well below average.  I'd rather see them tour behind a hit comp or a extended reissue than have them damage their legacy with another stinker like Bang.

They puled it off with B2B and that was probably their best tour ever, it doesn't take a lot when you think of it, two or three memorable songs, good playing (no drums by Mick please and get a guitar player who can play good licks, like Waddy), good production (can Was) and there you go. "Rain Fall Down" and "ONNYA" were the only standout tracks on ABB that they didn't manage to play live properly and also with maybe LMDSlow and LIND they didn't even try.

They've toured behind 40 Licks twice in a row. To do it a third time would be ripping the arse out of it.

I loved the Licks Tour. It had a great deal of pleasant surprises for me. While the Bang Tour had some great moments, it was IMO a step back. The extra gigs in Europe in 07 had more interesting sets btw.

Odd - I dont think they played anything at all in 2007 that hadnt been played in 2005/2006.

I loved the Licks tour as well. My favourite of all the tours I've seen. However, the interest in it was in the extensive dip into their back catalogue that they did at the arena and theatre shows. It made up for the lack of new material. The stadium shows were little more than a greatest hits set - and the ABB tour was basically a continuation of that.

The lack of new ground being broken creatively and the decline in performance levels made it a significant step back for me as well. Thats based on the recordings I've heard of the shows overall. I still enjoyed all 13 of the shows I attended however, and a couple at least were on a par wth pretty much any Stones gig I've seen.

I got All Down The Line, CYHMK?, She Was Hot, Sweet Virginia and It's All Over Now in Nijmegen in 2007. For a gig at a big festival site, that's quite something. The 2006 European gigs were a bit more static IMO, though they did do Sway on a few occasions (to be truthful, it didn't work well live though I'm glad I got to see it). Don't get me wrong though, I had a great time in 2006 too. It's just that Licks was better for me. I got to see them at a club gig back then, so I guess it's hard to top that in a stadium.

"if Keith ain't there, there's no Stones." .....

__________________________

You know, .. how true that statement is. I never realized it but they have up-started or worked for time periods on recording projects without Ronnie, without Mick, even at times without Charlie BUT it just doesn't happen without Mr. Keith Richards.

Sure he may not be present on a song or two once in a great while BUT as far as not being around when the writing process or working up a song goes or not being around when starting a recording project Keith is ALWAYS there. Now that I think about it he is the one "needed" ingredient. It just don't start to go down without him.

Nice Observation Gazza. You could not of put it more simply "No Keith ....no Stones". It's just that simple folks.

Well MICK was in NY for fashion week, maybe KEEF was there too, he ususlly goes with Patty and his 2 'model' daughters. Could be possible. No Ronnie but they dont need him yet, or Charlie. They can finish it off later. I wonder if L'Wren and Patty get along, that would make it more convenient if they liked each other socially, both being models and fashionistas!
