I like to think had he lived he'd have eventually turned his life around, fired that bastard Parker and finally toured overseas.

I'd also like to think that Brian Jones might have sorted himself out. Jim Morrison too.

Of acts who have died at a time when I was a fan (and not before I'd heard of them), I still miss Johnny Cash, Warren Zevon (both of whom died in the same week!!) , Joe Strummer, John Lennon, George Harrison and Bob Marley most of all.

In terms of someone dying just a time when their musical direction was probably going to take them somewhere interesting - Buddy Holly, Jimi Hendrix and maybe Gram Parsons.

However, in terms of someone dying and their band taking a direction (artistically, not so much musically) that maybe wouldnt have happened had he still been around - -> stu watching how stupid we are LOL

Not as well known, to the casual listener as a Lennon, Harrison, or Hendrix, but they both just DESERVED to live longer. NOT that the others didn't......sigh. Well, you know what I mean. Those two have my heart. And there were such sad circumstances surrounding both of them...
