Caught them twice this year.  They have still got the chops.  They have played sporadic dates in Detroit, AC, Boston, Mohegan Sun in CT for New Years Eve.  They can rock like nobodys bidness.

Wish they'd make it out west.  Big fan of the bad boys from Boston.

Joe Perry whines more than Keith Richards ... he should face it ... they are married like Jagger/Richards ... neither can go on without the other ... the Joe Perry Project had at least two LP's ... my fav ... Let The Music Do The Talking ... Richards without Jagger aint ever go be the Rolling Stones ... Perry without Tyler is a poor imitation of Aerosmith ... which is a pale imitation of the Rolling Stones to start with ...  Ouch!

Joe Perry Says Aerosmith Not Breaking Up, Confirms Band Will Replace Steven Tyler

11/10/09, 9:54 am EST

Photo: Kane/WireImage

Aerosmith’s Joe Perry took to his Twitter page yesterday to relay some potentially positive news to fans: despite Steven Tyler’s apparent departure, “Aerosmith is definitely NOT breaking up.” Perry also confirmed that the remaining four members of Aerosmith would seek out a new singer while Tyler did “his own thing.”

“Aerosmith is positively looking for a new singer to work with. You just can’t take 40 years of experience and throw it in the bin!” Perry tweeted yesterday, November 9th. “Band is playing hotter than ever and our songs need to be played live! Don’t despair; Aerosmith not splitting up. Promise that’s the last you’ll hear from me on the subject till we gear up again.”

As Rolling Stone reported yesterday, following Aerosmith’s concert in Abu Dhabi on November 1st, Tyler left without talking to his band mates, instead telling a reporter for Classic Rock Magazine that he was going to focus on “Brand Tyler. ” Perry and Tyler have been at odds in recent years over what direction the four-decade-old band should take. Perry wants to pursue a sound closer to the band’s bluesy, Seventies records while Tyler is more interested in a poppier path that brought the band hits like “Jaded” and “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.” The tensions between the band reached fever pitch after their summer tour was cancelled after Tyler fell off the stage in South Dakota on August 6th.

In an interview yesterday with Boston’s WZLX 100.7, Perry said he called Tyler before the band’s recent Hawaii concerts to see if the singer had any interest in playing three December gigs in South America, but midway through the conversation Tyler hung up on Perry. “I kind of got the hint that he pretty much wants to be alone and wants to do his own thing,” Perry said. Still, Perry reiterated that he doesn’t think this is the end of Aerosmith. “As long as we’re still kicking, it’s not over. We’ll probably get bored and come back.”

This brings up the question, who legally owns the Aerosmith name. I realize the music is more important and all that. But just curious. Perry left the band once and they carried on as Aerosmith. So if Tyler leaves, can they still call themselves Aerosmith?

Ha!
That Spinal Tap pic is a screen grab from the movie that I posted a while back.

Nice to see that Amerigo Vespucci "discovered" it...

Did you beat me to the joke and I didn't realize?  Oh well, just about any Spinal Tap joke would suffice in this situation:

"I told them a million times, Spinal Tap first and Puppet Show second"

"Well, I'd probably feel much worse if I weren't under such heavy sedation"

"Shit Sandwich"

ya see?  they all fit pretty well into this whole Aerosmith fiasco

No, not at all.
Just recognized that pic instantly.

And it is appropriate in this instance...

Aerosmith are too old for solo careers.  Just play out the remaining shit as a band.  That is all.

Steven still with Aerosmith...

Rumors of Aerosmith’s impending demise came to a quick and sudden halt last night when Steven Tyler made a surprise appearance at the Joe Perry Project’s concert at New York’s Fillmore at Irving Plaza to announce to the fans that he was not quitting Aerosmith despite previous reports. “I just want New York to know, I am not leaving Aerosmith,” Tyler said to a relieved crowd. “Joe Perry, you are a man of many colors. But I, motherfucker, am the rainbow!” After Tyler’s revelation, the Joe Perry Project launched into “Walk This Way” with Tyler on lead vocals.

Tyler’s announcement comes just days after Perry and other Aerosmith members said they would recruit a new lead singer. The band turmoil began when Tyler told a reporter he was going to work on “Brand Tyler” following a November 1st concert in Abu Dhabi. While fans worried this meant the end of Aerosmith, Perry insisted that the group would not break up despite Tyler leaving the group. “Aerosmith is positively looking for a new singer to work with. You just can’t take 40 years of experience and throw it in the bin,” Perry tweeted just two days ago, RS reported. Any auditions for a new singer, however, were probably called off after Tyler’s surprise appearance last night....
