The guitar interplay on Beast of Burden is magic

I just started studying the guitar tab for the song and MAN! There's some crazy lead lines and interplay in that song. I never noticed how complex it was before. I thought it'd just be really simple pentatonic licks but it's actually relatively complex. Subtle genius for sure. The '78 versions are even more impressive.

Awesome tune, quickly becoming my favorite!

Yeah, like many Stones songs, it's more complex than it seems on the surface. One of their best, imo. Keep at it. Ya know what they say: Practice makes poifect!  Cool

I used to listen to this on 8-track and i loved to listen to the channel where it was just Keith....
its amazing - keith doesn't play in tabs or any structured way - just purely by feel and this song is a perfect exampe of that.....
Those little melodic interludes, licks weaving in and out in the background throughout the whole song just add to its emotional impact.
He plays with such feeling....

Yeah BEAST is a great tune. I have different versions and I just played eight different versions of it in a row. It's amazing how every one of them is different, and thats another reason why I love The Stones. The same songs can be played seventy times and no two times are exactly alike and all are great. Some are faster, slower, different endings, different intensity, etc.

One great bit of advice from MICK/KEEF~ I can shrug it off! Yep, that's what ya gotta do sometimes, just say fvck it and shrug it off! That's why they can handle the comments and criticism, because they dont let it get to them!  Simple. No care, no worries about anyone elses opinion. I admire that!

I wasn't aware of that. Which means I'm too old and my kids are too young.

The guitar interplay on The Beast IS magic. The guitars fit together so beautifully and the tone just makes such a great stroll along melody.

*Even if you are not keen on The Stones it is hard to find someone who does not like this song.

....and the girls just melt to it. It turns them into butter ....even if they do not care for The Stones this one always steals their heart they will have to admit.

Yes I am glad this is recognized here in that The Beast is loved by even "non-Stones" fans. I mean, how can you not? Sure Angie, Ruby Tuesday, Lady Jane, Waiting On a Friend and all those are great in their own right but Beast of Burden melts even the most anti-Stones folk. There's just that melodic groove that cuts through them like butter. The lyrics and all are really weakening to the ladies especially.
