Effin BRILLIANT!!!

Seen him at Radio City on 1999 tour...Purple Rain...and about 6 times since...including Emancipation in DC...the "secret show" at 930 Club...and Musicology as well...NEVER disappointed...

The man can Dance 1000 times better than MJ ever did...because it comes sporadically...when the mood struck him...while MJ was always choreographed for each song...here is a true ROCK n ROLL moment...we have all seen it before...it really shows his superb abilities...I wish i was there!!!

He is fantastic! great guitarist & if he dances better then MJ, a all around talent, I never cared for his songs, but the solo on that one is outstanding.

Yeah, The O2 London concert was very cool! PRINCE is a great musician who sings, dances, and plays several instruments most excellently! He is generous, too ~ he handed out his latest CD PLANET EARTH free that night ~ nice!

That skinny mother-fvcker has awesome talent and I love his sexual attitude! Since I love sex I relate to that bump and grind rythym and appreciate a man who loves to flaunt sex in his music. PRINCE is hot ~ listen to MR GOODNIGHT ~ ahhh it's a sweet fantasy song, so nice, so nice!!

The guy's got some great albums.  Emancipation, however, is not one of them.

I beg to differ. For a 36-track triple CD its always going to be patchy, but about half of it was superb.

Much of his albums since then have been mediocre, though.

Seen him a few times - always pretty good. The 02 show a few of us went to during "Stones week" in 2007 was superb, but the after hours show at the Indigo a couple of hours later was out of this world.

I've pretty much all of his albums I think (admittedly several of the later ones only thanks to the magic of filesharing), but my favourite period is the Sign O The Times/Black Album/Lovesexy 1987-88 stuff.

Like Mick, Elvis and Bob Dylan, he should be judged by his music not his movies.

The MUSIC in Purple Rain is pretty good obviously, although he does come across as a bit of a tosser.

His concert films are better - Sign O' The Times from '87 (even tho much of it was redone on a soundstage)and the Lovesexy concert from Dortmund '88 are worth finding.

'Sign “☮” the Times' is great.
But 'Raspberry Beret' is on 'Around The World In A Day'.

I'll take 3121, Musicology, Rainbow Children, Lotusflower, even Rave un2 the Joy any day over Emancipation.  Obviously this is a matter of opinion, but give a couple of those another shot and I'll try to warm up to Emancipation again.  And yes, they are ALL patchy, but that's his thing - being performer, producer, composer and arranger is enough that I can't really fault him as an editor.

Haven't seen him yet but will not miss the next chance I get.

Also, "comes across as a bit of a tosser" is quite an understatement for anyone who's seen the Lovesexy album cover Oh no! not you again
