my first Ipod

Hello, today I got my first Ipod from my daughters. It's an Ipod classic with 160 Gig. That's 1500 cd's. Wow. Now I wanna put all my cd's on this Ipod to use it as one giant jukebox. Here is my question. Is it possible to attach the ipod to my stereoset in order to play it over my speakers. (I have great Kef speakers which I built myself almost 40 years ago). After some Googling I found I can attach the Ipod to my stereo through a dockingstation. So Ipod to dockingstation, dockingstation to stereoset (amplifier). Does anyone here have any expirience with this and give me some good advise? It would mean a lot to me.

Yes, I'm in The Netherlands and indeed, tomorrow is father's day here too. They gave me a nice present. I've always wanted to be able to play all my music from one source, so this seems ideal.
I hope it's possible and also keep a good sound. That's my problem. Is it possible to play (high quality, 320 ) mp3's over my stereoset and keep a good sound?? Happy father's day to all the fathers here!!

I have my iPod on a docking station, that goes into my amp. I have a few iPods. My largest is on the stereo, but it is Mp3's. I took my computer and attached it as well to my amp, and got an external Hard drive large enough to hold everything I own in lossless and room to add more... that way my music sounds great and my speakers get to be used to their potential... any more questions, just ask, it's veru easy tp hook up this stuff... RCA jacks do the trick.

I have an Ipod classic 160gb. If i use it with the main stereo i have a lead which i plug into the headphone jack of the ipod, and the other end is a pair of stereo outputs which i plug into my amp. It doesn'tcharge, but lasts for ages. If you want it to charge you need an ipod dock. I think apple do one. It also allows you to control it with a remote.

Apple also have a regular charger which you can just plug into a socket.

the dock is very convenient but not necessary... I like the dco, b/c I find using the ear jacks to run to my stereo cause some static, with the dco you use the 30 pin, and no static... your mileage may vary. And I do like using my dock to charge my iPods. My wife has a jack too, but I never use it.

Thanks so far, I have read somewhere that using the earphoneplug to connect to the amp gives a bad soundquality and a low volume and using the main plug gives a far better soundquality and a high volume. Does that sound familiar to somebody? I think I have to apologize for my terrible English. LOL
