Kinda adds to the smell of bullshit somewhat.

IF...Charlie does pack it in I think the band would rely on his input as to a replacement if they planned to carry on which I doubt highly. With the economy and no demand for another best of tour I think the end is nearer than we want to believe. Been a good ride folks. I know they always said they'd never do a "final" show but imagine a free show on TV broadcast round the world.."The Last Time"...with Charlie , Wyman and Taylor all back? Go out in style from MSG... Surely Ronnie could cover for Blondie!

True. Charley Drayton and Steve Jordan swapped instruments for a coupla songs in The Winos.

Most recently Drayton has been the drummer for The Divinyls.

Jordan's played with The Stones before - he's on 'Dirty Work'.

Charlie Watts, the dapper silver-haired drummer for the Rolling Stones, was reported today by Australia’s Undercover entertainment website to have left the band, just three years short of their 50th anniversary.

The band’s spokesperson, Fran Curtis, tells EW there is no truth to the rumors: “Contrary to a fabricated story that ran this morning,” she says, “Charlie Watts has not left The Rolling Stones.’’

The 68-year old Watts has been with the band since 1963; In 2004, he was diagnosed with throat cancer, which has since gone into remission.
