In a way that might be a good thing as the presence of a few journalists might make him or the Stones feel obliged to make some kind of statement confirming or denying this.

Several thoughts are going through my head right now:

First of all, I just don't believe this story. Gut feeling.

Secondly, if it's over...well...it's over. At this point I feel in my heart that chances are getting slimmer and slimmer that we will ever see another Tour. As I get older, I'm coming to understand that loss is a big part of life and you either deal with it or you lose your mind. Time is not on our sides.

And lastly, WHY can I see Jagger/Cohl floating this stuff just to set us all up to buy those pricey tickets OUT OF RELIEF and JOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????

Reality will hit me in approx 30 minutes and I'll be a blubbering idiot at my desk.

I hate to say it but I believe the story. Given Charlie's health and the length of time a tour takes him away from other (less stressful) pursuits he enjoys. Even if Charlie would change his mind there is still the Ronnie Wood problem. He needs the money after Jo rightfully socked it to him with heavy divorce demands, but he his far from road ready.

Not necessarily the case. Charlie didnt leak the story - someone else did. So his current location isnt important.

Plus, its working hours in Australia while the US and Europe are still asleep - plus that site has broken a few exclusives in the past. If its a 'breaking' story, no reason why they shouldnt get it first. Its not like Australia is a third world country.

Agree 100% if Charlie Quits is the end of the Stones or in the best case, as mentioned by Gazza, the drummer will be a substitute like Darryl Jones

* Keith and Mick were jailed for drugs in 67
* Keith was busted in Toronto
* Indian Girl was recorded
* The solo albums and sniping between Keith and Mick in late 80's
* Charlie last cancer scare
* Keith falls out of the tree

So hopefully I can add another line of false rumors or non events to my list........

Oh please SAY IT AIN"T SO! Charlie is the glue that holds the Stones together, without him it's just not going to be all right. This is some really bad news to wake up to.

We need confirmation, which we surely wont get, not yet, not ever. I think if Charlie really did say he doesnt want to tour anymore he would still record in the studio, and since he's playing tonight it proves he is still capable and willing to participate in live music so I dont believe the story. Nope, I refuse to believe it!

" Undercover has learned that Charlie Watts has quit The Rolling Stones.

A source within the Stones inner-circle says, “Charlie Watts has quit the band. He will never record or tour with the band again”.

The news does not come as a surprise. It was common knowledge that Keith Richards had to talk Charlie into contributing to the A Bigger Bang tour but this time it seems there is no calling Charlie back to active duty.

“The Stones are looking to Keith's Expensive Winos drummer Charlie Drayton to fill the void in all future Stones' callings,” our source says.

With Mick Jagger planning more Stones activity next year, the departure of Charlie will be a huge blow to the band. Charlie was the backbone of the band.

The 68-year old drummer simply doesn't want to do it anymore.

Charlie joined the Rolling Stones in January, 1963. He didn’t expect it would last. In fact, he kept his day job for several months until the band started to feel like a career.

Charlie’s decision to quit the band comes a three years short of the Stones 50th anniversary.

The Stones A Bigger Bang tour ran from August 2005 to August 2007. It was the highest tour of all-time. "
