It's a matter of what you're listening for. An artist needs to expand and diversify,and is very willing to change the previous formulas regardless of how successful they were. Otherwise they begin to feel they are badly cloning themselves or being enslaved by the past.

Wouldn't be surprised if he has tons of songs written that haven't been released simply because they're not usual Keith material or relatively rough recordings. Hurricane was written after 9/11 but wasn't released until Katrina. And then there's that beautiful acoustic piece that he played in Pirates and was featured in the bonus features of SAL. I'm sure there's more.

Most of it.
You see,"interest" is a very relative term.
Being a songwriter myself and a former perfomer,I know how music plays mind games all the time.
You may be listening to other albums from other artists,then you put in Keef's latest record
and it sounds crude and meaningless.
It takes time to catch the groove,lyrically,sonically and otherwise.
And there's plenty of stuff of substance in keef's work in the later years.
Sonically he's textured his playing to accomodate for the loss of execution he's had.
He's accentuated his singing and given it more phrasing to make up for other losses.
But his music has always been about groove,and I always ask myself what he was looking for in each album.I'm sure he doesn't even know the full extent of the answer,but I do think he's still got it to spare.

Offender was a personal favorite of mine.
Funny thing is,I discarded it when I heard it the first few times.
Then about 4 months after I was humming a tune and couldn't figure out where it came from.
I'm a composer as well but I knew this wasn't mine.
Considering it was somewhat untamed I searched offender and there it was.
After that,I understood the album not on my level but his,and it became a smash in my own mind,where it counts.
So,surprise,surprise,Keith is full of surprises. Shocked

I like to think of Ronnie as an interior decorator of sorts.
He's inconsistent as hell for sure but he can also put in very succinct touches that can save an otherwise flat
arrangement or performance.
I've seen him go from north to south in about 5 minutes flat.
And vice versa.
But he is versatile and a hell of a likeable guy.
But hey,that's just me,and I happen to think the Stones are the greatest thing since sex so I may be somewhat biased. Roll Eyes
