Guitar Player magazine had an article on it a couple of months ago with quotes from famous musicians.  It was funny to read how much John Fogerty despised The Grateful Dead.  Jerry Garcia was obviously tripping: “While you were playing, you could feel the presence of invisible time travelers from the future who had come back to see Woodstock.”  Johnny Winter said that Woodstock “was just another festival.”

Yeah, he said the Dead played for 3 hours, 30 minutes of that to tune up, C.C.R. had to follow them, half the audience was sleeping or out of it, there was one guy yelled out to Fogerty "John, We're with you" & he played the entire concert for that one guy who yelled out in the dark.
This is the video at 4:37 that John Fogerty mentions that.

Voodoo Chile in Wonderland vote was for Jimi Hendrix, not his best performance but one the best of the festival.
  • It would be a great idea to make the poll with multiple options
  • It was the third or fourth gig of Mountain
  • Pete Townshend played the whole set with a Gibson Les Paul
  • Who sold Joey bad acid?
  • Jefferson Airplane, Ten Years After and The Who kicked serious asses
  • I didn't attend the festival

  • Townshend played a Gibson SG, not a Les Paul.

And yes, they kicked ass - especially Abbie Hoffman's...

Based on the original movie,  I voted for Sly & The Family Stone.

That version of 'I Wanna Take You Higher' was the highpoint, just ahead of Hendrix' "Star Spangled Banner".

Ten Years After had 3 albums out before Woodstock, but were, you could say, virtually unknown, at least in North America, after Woodstock, the movie, everybody was aware of TYA  & Alvin Lee's incredible performance, then the Ssssh album was released & that shot to the top, & people started getting interested in their earlier albums, so Woodstock made TYA.
