The date is the same as today, except the year is 1968. Bob Weir and Pigpen were "fired" from The Grateful Dead, I believe it was for a few weeks. Anyway Marty Balin owned The Matrix club in San Francisco. Basically, Bay Area musicians would drop by and jam. This show is from the band called Mickey and the Hartbeats. Basically the GD w/o Pigpen and Weir.

Although Elvin Bishop and Jack Cassidy join in for the fun....read the reviews at the bottom, some say Harvey Mandel and Spencer Dryden joined in as well. It's one of those mystery shows of who is exactly on stage.

10-30-68 The Matrix, San Francisco, Ca. (Wed)

Dark Star Jam> Death Letter Blues, Other One> Lovelight, Jam> The Eleven> Death Don't, Jam*> Jam*, Prisoner Blues*, Clementine Jam, Dark Star Jam**

*with Elvin Bishop

**with Jack CasadyMickey And The Hartbeats

PS  If you love the Bass guitar, you'll love this show!

Colorado ski town legalizes pot
(AP) – 23 hours ago

DENVER — The Colorado ski town of Breckenridge has voted overwhelmingly to legalize marijuana.

Early returns Tuesday night showed the proposal winning with 72 percent of the vote. The measure would allow adults over 21 to have up to 1 ounce of marijuana.

The measure is largely symbolic because pot possession remains a state crime for people without medical clearance. But supporters said they wanted to send a message to local law enforcement to stop busting small-time pot smokers.

The vote comes as communities nationwide are struggling with how to enforce pot laws at a time when medical marijuana has surged in popularity.

A month of no weeding?  piss off

First off RIP John Lennon. Hard to believe it's been 29 years????

Taking my mind off of the game of life with this Grateful Dead show that was  20 years ago...wow, seems like yesterday in some ways.

http://www.archive.org/details/gd1989-07-07.sbd.wiley.tetzeli.fix-7855.35410.ref... (Soundboard) There had to be at least 100,000 people at this show.

It was not known at the time but the last event at the stadium was the Grateful Dead's concert on July 7, 1989. Bruce Hornsby & The Range opened. Fans at the show recall concrete crumbling from the stadium and bathrooms in poor shape. The Dead closed the show with Knockin' on Heaven's Door; it would be the last song played at the stadium.

JFK Stadium was condemned on July 13, 1989 by Mayor Wilson Goode after the Dead show on July 7, 1989.

July 7, 1989
Philly JFK Stadium

Set 1

Hell In A Bucket
Iko Iko
Little Red Rooster
Ramble On Rose
Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again
Loser
Let It Grow ->
Blow Away

Set 2

Box Of Rain ->
Scarlet Begonias ->
Fire On The Mountain
Estimated Prophet ->
Standing On The Moon
Drums ->
Space ->
The Other One ->
Wharf Rat ->
Turn On Your Lovelight

Encore
Knockin' On Heaven's Door

This is a soundboard with more audience mix...plus reading the reviews at the bottom brings back some funny memories.

Yes indeed, RIP John.
Still as sad and senseless all these years later.

Ah, JFK '89.

A sea of Heads from the Walt Whitman Bridge all the way to the stadium.
100K easy, and likely just as many outside.

My friend was a taper, and we got into the stadium just as the band was hitting the stage.
He turned on his deck and extended his mic stand as were making our way onto the field.
Didn't miss a note...

A smoking hot day and and an equally hot show. Smiley Smiley Smiley

BTW, that was the last "official" event at JFK, but the Stones dress rehearsed the Steel Wheels show
before moving across the parking lot for the tour opener at The Vet.

The 'Better Than The Real Rebirth' boot was recorded at the 8/29 rehearsal.

Holy shit my fellow Deadheads...you HAVE TO SEE the band Phil and Bob formed called Furthur. This is some of the best music I heard since the late 80's. They have the "Jerry" guy from DSO playing with them, and man....do they jam.

Here's the winter tour for next year.
http://www.furthur.net/

I saw them last night up in Connecticut, here's the setlist. The second set I thought I was in The Fillmore around the year of 1970. Sick jamming.

The second set was one continual flow, they didn't stop for one second, all the songs segued into one another!

Shakedown Street
Alabama Getaway
Goodmorning Little Schoolgirl
Pride of Cucamonga
Loose Lucy
New Minglewood Blues
The Music Never Stops

Set 2

Jam>
Chinacat Sunflower>
Eyes of the World>
Born Cross Eyed>
Dark Star>
Strawberry Fields Forever>
St Stephen>
The 11>
Foxy Jam tease>
Not Fade Away
Donor Rap
E: Goin Down The Road Feelin Bad

Here's a link to how they sound, keep checking back, last nights show should be up soon.

Remember to keep your nose to the grindstone, your shoulder to the wheel, your feet on the ground, your eye on the ball, your ear to the ground, your finger on the pulse, your head on your shoulders, the pedal to the metal, a song in your heart, your hand on the helm and the bull by the horns

You can be a medical marijuana provider in state of Michigan once you are certified and learn the law.  should probably be a medical marijuana licensed user too to be on safe side. The college is under review by the state at the moment cuz they can't believe that it is all legal since the dude (24 y.o.) director is a medical marijuana patient and provider its all legit.

Some guy named "Sick Bits" seems to be a contributor to the sound of some of these Grateful Dead shows. I'm listening to the 11-4-77 show, but here's his resume:
