A Dead Weekend (ssc)

Alert Board Moderator about this Post!
Just back (and tired) from two Dead shows the last two nights.  If you get the chance to see them, take it--they're on fire!  Warren Haynes doesn;t try to ape Jerry like some predecessors did---and in so doing better captures the spirit of the boys 1965--1995.  On Saturday, they even pulled 'Gimme Shelter' out of their hat and did it justice (although I thought last night's show was slightly higher energy--if a tad sloppier--Till The Morning Comes was particularly butchered).  I love the Hartford Civc Center (the "XL Center" this month)---small, great sight lines, and NO security--it was like an opium den!  The Stones best show of the Licks Tour was there back on 10-5-2002.  The Dead can still generate their ol' X factor in spades---the ceiling was dripping with the blood.... the Beast is BACK!

the Gimme Shelter can be heard here--
