ah Zack - must disagree - i thought the straightfoward 4/4 beat of Miss You was not that original or exciting - i love sugar blue's harp - now i agree that was an original sound (ha! - tell that one to Larry Adler!) - well at least a break-away from mick's more or less blues harp stylings
HS on the other hand, while JB derived - to a degree I would say, not "pure(ly)" - for me taps deep into keith's own brand and idea of funkiness (for want of a better word) - the (hot) stuff indeed, which sets him apart from all others and HS is where it emerged fully formed, practically without warning - i can think of no other track released before it (ok - maybe Luxury at a pinch) that - overtly at least* - predicts it
* the fact is compared to his peers even keith's rock and roll eg JJF RO MM has an inherent "funk" that none of his peers (excepting Jimi, if you consider him one) could come close to
