when this cover of Wild Horses appeared while flipping through channels.  Maroon 5's lead singer and Alicia Keys don't exactly cause eargasms with this one...only for the bulimic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfLmCPfx_gY

ouch - alicia's voice is ok but that bloke is no good (imho) - and the additional passing chords  they put in are competely unnecessary and their 'complicated" harmonies - again, it's too much - sounds like a bloody elton john song

following your link tho i found this :

i've never heard of Charlotte Martin  but i  liked this - much more stripped back - raw but still bitter sweet  - its fairly lo-fi live recording

what do you all think?

yes - weeding in the extreme heat - we (corgi is copping it too) are in the middle (or the beginning) of a string of over 40C days - yesterday was over 45 and today is going to be just as bad

last night was the hottest night in the history of Christendom

Martin gets the song, plays it and sings it nicely.  No new chord pop bs.  This is a song, that, if I were in a band, would be weary of attempting.  The original can't really be improved, though some 75-76 versions are close in their beauty.

for sure - the Who went to church this Sunday (LA 75) version is sublime  ( duff chord change from keith notwithstanding) Ronnie's solo is a belter

here it is - http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=leAy2ruUCa8&feature=related (no live vid sadly)

Those 70's versions are so slow and groovy. They played it too fast during ABB. I loved it when they played it in Dubendorf. Damn, I hope I get another chance to see 'em.
