New Single From U2 ...from Ian

Here is the first single from U2's new album No Line On The Horizon.

Quite Different, yet ...just not that great. Something "different" alone isn't enough. It should be good as well as different.

This track, the new single, is more like an experimental throwaway rather than a lead single for a U2 album.

(oh well, I never invested any stock in U2 anyway ... they are, and always have been incredibly overrated. As well, they just aren't my bag)

Normally this is the case with U2. I'll give them that much. That is certainly the case with the Stones (VL, B2B, and ABB were easily among the very best albums of their years).

However I have to differ here with you on that this time with U2.

To me this track is a mediocre song by any major, or even more minor act's standards. The experimentation is good, but the song itself is slightly below middle of the road to me.

Not every single can be a classic but if they cannot do better than this as a lead single off a new album it says a lot.

The only thing that is bit annoying in U2 that they have to be like these world healers .. I mean that's ok but do they allways have to put that "world healing" to the songs..
