Arlen Roth is a great guitar teacher, I used to buy "Guitar Player" every month, & his columns were a great insight, I don't even know if G.P. is still around, there's so many other guitar mags around, but Guitar Player was the first, I've kept all my copies, I never counted them, but there must be a 100, going back I think to '74, a lot with Keith in them as the featured guitarist.

I think Guitar Player is still around....seems that my husband got it for awhile. Now he just gets Acoustic Guitar, as that's what he plays.

Thanks Stewed & keefed for those other video's, I started playing guitar in '69, & I wish those were around back then, it's amazing how easy it is to learn a song what with tab & video's like these now days, back when I started it was either by ear, learn from somebody else, or learn how to read music, & even then it was all piano music in the wrong key.

Yeah but if you learn by ear or from somebody else, developing your own unique style is easier and comes more naturally. That's why so many modern bands sound alike. They imitate each other instead of innovate.

Am I the only one that think his playin' is a little rough here? Keith's playin' is a lot more loose, you know...

That's probably because he's teaching anyway..

your very right about that, I learned by playing along with records, by ear, but when I was in my late 20's, i got interested in Classical Guitar, I had to study from a teacher about things that unless you learn from fingering about the proper way to place your hands on a fretboard, the easier way to play a melody (without it being forced) & sounding great at the same time, it's a whole different world, so learning how to read music in my opinion is very important, that's if you want to learn Mozart, J.S.Bach, Beethoven, etc.
