Ronnie, in fact was a member of the Small Faces, not just the first two singles and the first LP Album were released as Small Faces but during the first tour with Ronnie and Rod they used to introduced themselves live as "The Small Faces"
The first album just has Faces on it, no small, also, NME's etc from the time show they billed themselves as The Faces for gigs too.
Probably I was not clear enough: When Steve quit, the remaining members first tried to convince Peter Frampton to join (absurd as Steve first proposed Peter as the additional axe and they rejected him), then Rod and Ronnie joined as THE SMALL FACES, they didn't change the name, released two singles as SMALL FACES with Rod and Ronnie and then the album "First Step" as the SMALL FACES, it was not a mistake or an error as someone told before, they didn't change the name when Ronnie and Rod joined. Not just that they toured as the SMALL FACES and there are bootlegs with Rod Stewart introducing the band as "WE ARE THE SMALL FACES"
Then after two singles, one album and one tour as The Small Faces they decided to change the name to Faces as Ronnie and Rod were not small as the other members. Later editions of "First Step" were released as "Faces" and the discographies consider the new band as The Faces so "First Step" is considered a "Faces" album and not a "Small Faces" album
So Rod and Ronnie were members of the SMALL FACES... period
