President Obama's second cousin is scheduled to speak at a Tea Party rally opposing healthcare reform Saturday, organizers told The Hill.

Dr. Milton Wolf, a radiologist from Kansas, published an op-ed last week decrying "Obamacare," and will join a large group of conservative lawmakers and activists on Capitol Hill tomorrow to rally against the legislation.

The new government agencies that will be created as the result of Obamacare will worsen the quality of American medical care by restricting physicians and hospitals to use their best judgment, according to Rep. Tom Price, R-Ga., a physician and chairman of the Republican Study Committee.

In fact, he says, the bill would create 159 new governemnt agencies to regulate insurance and medical care for Americans.

Writing for AOL News, Price says in an op-ed that the healthcare overhaul being contemplated by House Democrats will sacrifice “the quality of health care that has made this nation's practice of medicine the envy of the world.”

“Quality remains one of the six principles of patient-centered health care that Republicans have advocated,” Price writes. “Yet, all Americans find in the Democrats' government-centered vision are various boards of bureaucrats -- not practicing physicians -- determining what is considered quality care.”

The plan will take away the right of individuals to make the best decisions about their healthcare in consultation with their physician.

“An individual patient is far better served when health care decisions are informed by the advice of their doctor, not the dictates of Washington,” Price writes. “So when one reads the details of the legislation pending before Congress and finds the creation of 159 new government offices and programs, there is little else to feel but fear and concern for what will happen to the level of quality care in this country.”

The GOP has pushed a series of common-sense measures, Price says, that include tort reform and efforts to reduce waste and mismanagement in government programs like Medicare.

“Republicans are championing reform with no new bureaucratic boards making medical decisions, no $500 billion cuts to Medicare, no new mandates, and no one standing between you and your doctor,” Price writes. “We can fix what ails our current system without destroying it if we abide by the principle that quality in health care must not be sacrificed.”

The Internal Revenue Service would gain sweeping new powers under President Obama's healthcare reform proposals, in what Republicans on the House Ways and Means Committee are calling a "dangerous expansion" of IRS powers.

That's according to a nine-page Republican report from the Committee on Ways and Means on Thursday. It's titled "The Wrong Prescription" Democrats' Health Overhaul Dangerously Expands IRS Authority."

Among the new powers the IRS would assume, the report says: The authority to confiscate tax refunds, to impose fines of over $2,200 per taxpayer, and to verify whether taxpayers' health insurance coverage is "acceptable."

One measure of the scope of the IRS' new responsibilities under the healthcare overhaul: The agency might have to hire as many as 16,500 additional auditors, agents, and other employees in order to administer the program, according to Rep. Dave Camp, R-Mich., the ranking Republican on the Ways and Means Committee.

"It is a very dangerous expansion of the IRS' power and reach into the lives of virtually every American," Camp said in a statement released Thursday afternoon.

The Ways and Means report portrays healthcare reform as having a wide-ranging impact on how the IRS operates, including:

IRS agents would be tasked with determining whether Americans had obtained the insurance coverage required under the individual mandate.
Individuals could be fined $2,250 or 2 percent of income, whichever is greater, if you are unable to prove you have "minimum essential coverage."
The IRS would be empowered to confiscate tax refunds if necessary.
Audits probably would increase as a result of the legislation's new requirements.
The budget for IRS operations will balloon by $10 billion in the next decade in order to administrate the new program.
Nearly half of the new individual mandate taxes will be paid "by Americans earning less than 300 percent of poverty, $66150 for a family of four.
A statement that Democrats are sure to dispute, the report, which Camp and fellow GOP Rep. Charles Boustany of Louisiana prepared, says healthcare reform would "fundamentally alter the relationship between the IRS and taxpayers."

Essentially, the Republicans state, the reform bill makes the IRS responsible for "tracking the monthly health insurance status of roughly 300 million Americans."

They express the concern that reform would alter the IRS' traditional mission of collecting revenue, and adding a social-program delivery function to its portfolio.

"This is an unprecedented new role for the IRS — one that will inject the IRS even further into the lives of American families," the report warns.

Since health insurance will become mandatory, this should be expected. If you already have coverage, no worries.
The HCR summit a few weeks ago would have been a great venue to voice these types of concerns.
Now it is going to be a scare tactic marathon . . .

In 2001, the Bush tax cuts for the top earners got a CBO report signifying 1.3 trillion in deficits over ten years. It Passed via reconciliation with Cheney casting the deciding vote.
(chirp, chirp, chirp)

In 2010 the HCR bill got a CBO report signifying 1.2 trillion in deficits over ten years. In 20 years savings are expected.
(SOCIALISM!!! FASCISM !!!!)

You have great potential

WASHINGTON, DC – The Obama administration’s chief actuary at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) notified Republican leaders Saturday that the “very tight time frame” and “complexity” of the Democrats’ health spending bill would prevent them from fully analyzing the costs and efficacy of the bill before the House voted on the legislation. The letter was in response to a request from House and Senate Republicans.

The Chief Actuary, Richard S. Foster, wrote: “In your letter, you requested that we provide the updated actuarial estimates in time for your review prior to the expected House debate and vote on this legislation on March 21,2010. I regret that my staff and I will not be able to prepare our analysis within this very tight time frame, due to the complexity of the legislation.”

its the whole "embarrassing close family member makes the politician's stance on the issue a bit awkward" angle. or something like that.

All you fools that bought the line of shit that Obama was selling have helped to sell this country down the river, and you're too damned thick to even realize it! I want to thank you all for helping bankrupt the country. Bush was a million times better than this fucking radical bastard. The poll average for Americans who do not want this bill to pass? 74% of all Americans say no to government run health care. Does that matter to the drones on this thread? Nooooo. They don't give two fucks. How about Barry "hands down the worst president in history" Obama, does he care what the people who hired think? Hell no! Do the Democrats care? Fuck no!!

They know that they are going to get their clocks cleaned come November, but they don't care. Because they will have gotten exactly what they wanted. Namely, a huge all powerful centralized government run health care system that will have total control over the citizenry. Those of you on this thread that pretend that you have even the slightest bit of intellect, here's a clue-you are a bunch of dupes that are about to get fucked.

That would be fine with me, because you lot deserve all the shit that is about to come your way. However, your abject idiocy is going to destroy my family's health coverage, and my kids are going to be paying for this socialist system for the rest of their lives, and the real shame is that their health care service is going to suck. Thanks morons!

Mr Bill, uh, can I call you Wild? Thanks . . .

Wild, my claim that Noonan is a hack should have been understood to be my opinion. Often, I will type "IMO" to let readers know this. Since I didn't do that this time it is understandable that you would need "proof" she is a hack. After all, when someone is deemed a "hack", it is either true or it is false, right? There can be no middle ground on this label.

Please try to imagine what Noonan would write if Obama traveled overseas while the most significant piece of legislation in our lifetime was being worked out. For her to be so ashamed over this is proof in and of itself.

She also claimed that President Obama "misunderstood what history was asking of him" when he started the push for health care reform, and that it was "fatally off-point." As JC has pointed out many times here, Obama campaigned on HCR. We expected him to reform the industry. Since HCR started, the massive faux news misinformation campaign is proof to me that HCR is the right thing to do. Have you seen the protester interviews on the web? They are upset about stuff that isn't in the bill. They get their news from one source, faux news.

Also, her perspective on the Bret Baier interview with Obama was not based in reality (IMO).

PS
I was using this definition:
hack - a mediocre and disdained writer

PPS - Did you know that she considers herself to be a "full body communicator? Her words, not mine.  I shit you not.

You were never much of a numbers cruncher, were you Pdog? Hey my man, who the hell do you think is going to pay for your kids' insurance until their 26? While you think on that one, why not ask yourself who's going pay for your neighbors' kids? And their neighbors kids? And so on, and so on, .....

We all are!!!! We all are, and now we've just assured that our kids will be as well from this point forward should this shit bill pass.  And the ones that make more money are going to pay more, as it should be! Right, Pdog? I mean they're rich after all! Fuck 'em! As Barack said last year, "There will be a time for profits, but that time is not now!"

That you even still buy into this liberal non-sense is maddening. There is no such thing as redistributing wealth Pdog!!! There has never in man's history been a government that has "redistributed wealth"!! The government can only spread poverty!

This is the largest government spending increase in 70 years, and it will "fundamentally change", the nation as we have known it, and as it was left to us. It is also the largest, and most sweeping governmental power grab in over a century, and it will "fundamentally change" the citizen/government relationship. A bunch of radical leftists are running our nation that honestly believe that their world view is the only one that matters, and their unquenchable thirst for ever more power is on full display. They are going to get this go damned health bill passed whether we like it or not dammit!

Pdog, you have defended these clowns for a long time now. I just want to know one thing. Why? Why do defend the blatant unethical back room deals? The 300 million dollar kickbacks? The corrupt bribery? The strong arm threat tactics? The willful disregard for the will of the American people?

Please tell me you are not stupid enough to believe that Barack Obama is the most intellectual president ever?!?! He's a god damned ideologue who has been surrounded my radicals since birth, Pdog!!! His father, who abandoned him, was a full blown communist politico from Kenya! He was a government economist! True story, Pdog. He preached "wealth redistribution" before Barack Jr. was ever born! His mother, who abandoned him to her own mother, became very active in some of the most radical leftists movements of her day. When young "Barry" went away to school he chose to hang with the Marxist professors at both Harvard, and at Chicago.

I'm no Dr. Phil, but I'd say there are all kinds of issues going on inside that little pointed head of the Marxist One. Certainly some abandonment things going on there, and of course, his desire to emulate his own father that he barely knew. He's also as arrogant, and smug as they come. Add a healthy dose of hatred for the USA, and you've got yourself one snobbish elitist radical leftist fuck.

He's your Barry!!

" i thought you were toning it down"

That was toned down.

I wanted to say that you are an idiot, incapable of honest debate because you are incapable of understanding the difference between facts and opinion.  That, coupled with your an inability to use even basic sentence and paragraph structure, make it damn near impossible for you to articulate your thoughts clearly in writing.

Your incoherent ramblings are like that of a street person.  Half the time I don't understand what you are talking about and the other half I don't even care.

But I didn't.
