Yeah Republicans are all so extreme. Please cite one example of extremism from Republicans, Bush, Palin, etc. that matches a congress and a president that have as their stated objective and goal the transfer of a full 1/6th of the economy from the private sector squarely into the hands of the federal government that is promoting "social justice". And this "social justice" that we are talking about here is only social justice as defined by them. They know best after all, right? They are doing all of this, and, at the same time, they have a plan drawn up that refuses to allow the individual state representatives to even represent the individuals in their state! If that is not taxation without representation then I don't know what is.

Never before in US history has a bill this massive in it's scale been rammed down the throat of the American public without a clearly defined vote. You liberals love to claim how great of an idea that this is. Really? Are you going to feel that way, now that a precedent will have been set, when a genuine far right ideologue gets his hands on the reins of power? You still going to defend trashing the US Constitution then? I highly doubt it, and neither the hell would I. Wake up!

Local interview on the news tonight with Steve Lynch, Dem from South Boston.
He said he was not voting for Health Care as of earlier today.  The President asked
to meet with him, which he consented to for over an hour today.  He came out of the
meeting unchanged in his mind.  He told the President, you have gutted reform from
this bill, which is the very thing you are trying to sell the American people it has.
He claimed the President only would say that future revisions to the bill would have reform
in them.  Lynch told the President he's voted on over 290 bills in his time in the House, many
of which promised further measures to the bill, 100% of them never have other measures materialize.
He thanked the President for his time, but told him he could not support the bill.

This must kill Obama, to have Lynch, an Irish kid who grew up in the projects of South Boston
telling him no.

Your beloved free market capitalism has resulted in a healthcare system which rewards those who deny claims and refuse the least among us, instead of those who heal the most. Now that someone is FINALLY talking about reforming it, you say "I've got mine, screw everyone else" and can only see it as a "money grab".

Pure unadulterated socialism certainly doesn't work, but neither does pure unadulterated capitalism.

There's a reason why greed is one of the seven deadly sins.

jesus? (fleabit??) hello? anybody home?? you saying you would pick any socialist system over what we've got going here? you nuts?

capitalism results in bringing out greed...rich get richer etc...it is pathetic. but i have yet to see a system that works better, especially for a country of 309 million people. i think it was churchill who said (or maybe it wasn't...i can't remember) "capitalism is the worst system of govt ever created...except for all the rest of them."

Speaking on the House floor last night, Broun said:

Most of what senate Republicans say they're going to try to do is fight to keep the least popular parts of the original Senate package in bill. That's right. They're going to go to the mat for the 'Cornhusker Kickback.' They're going to do everything they can to prevent the "Cornhusker Kickback" from being overturned. Same with the "Louisiana Purchase", the tax on "Cadillac" Health Care plans and a bunch of other stuff.

Peggy Noonan NAILS it in today's WSJ.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704207504575130081383279888.html

"And so it ends, with a health-care vote expected this weekend. I wonder at what point the administration will realize it wasn't worth it—worth the discord, worth the diminution in popularity and prestige, worth the deepening of the great divide. What has been lost is so vivid, what has been gained so amorphous, blurry and likely illusory. Memo to future presidents: Never stake your entire survival on the painful passing of a bad bill. Never take the country down the road to Demon Pass"

I'm seriously thinking of leaving work early to attend the protest outside of Louise Slaughter's Buffalo office!!!

I should have provided more color on this Funman, as the local reference
got lost.  The reason this would hurt Obama is the fact that a Dem in Mass,
the state where his hero Ted Kennedy was a senator for so long, who was
a longtime proponent of Health Care, who passed away before it could
be voted on, would never have allowed Lynch to not vote in favor of this.

Is that what I said? No? Then  I guess that's NOT what I'm saying. A clue might've been when I said "Pure unadulterated socialism certainly doesn't work."

I'm saying that Mr. Riffhard and President Reagan's beloved and sacrosanct Free Market System is not the best possible engine to drive things that people's lives depend upon. I'm saying that there are aspects of our most assuredly capitalist society which closely resemble Socialism - that these things are GOOD things imho - and that I don't view "socialism" as a swear word any more than I do "liberal".

I didn't expect that to ruffle your feathers.

And for all the people who continue to insist I'm someone who I'm actually NOT - I believe the person you're referring to passed away not too long ago.

your pal,

Jesus

i for one consider neither socialism nor liberalism a dirty word. in small, easy to manage european states, it may work just fine.  however, in our massive country, which is third in the world in terms of population, it cannot work and should not be tried. the less the govt is in charge of, the better. are you saying you disagree with this premise?

"Excuse me, but it is embarrassing—really, embarrassing to our country—that the president of the United States has again put off a state visit to Australia and Indonesia because he’s having trouble passing a piece of domestic legislation he’s been promising for a year will be passed next week. What an air of chaos this signals to the world. And to do this to Australia of all countries, a nation that has always had America’s back and been America’s friend."

The nation's largest association of doctors and the AARP senior citizens' lobby are endorsing President Barack Obama's revised health overhaul legislation.

James Rohack, president of the American Medical Association, said Friday that the pending bill isn't perfect, but it's the next step toward real reform of the nation's health care system.

"This is certainly not the bill we would have written, but we cannot let the perfect be the enemy of the good," Rohack said.

The board of the Chicago-based group reached a consensus and voted unanimously Thursday night after a review of the House reconciliation bill.
    ....

In a statement Friday, AARP said the legislation "will improve health care for older Americans and their families." The bill gradually closes the "doughnut hole" coverage gap in the Medicare prescription drug benefit and limits insurance companies' ability to charge higher premiums based solely on age, AARP said.

They join more than 250 organizations including the Catholic Health Association, Main Street Alliance, Federation of American Hospitals, National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems, American College of Physicians, National Hispanic Medical Association, Paralyzed Veterans of America, American Heart Association, American  Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, American Diabetes Association, American Nurses Association, Families USA, National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, National Women’s Law Center, Consumer Federation of America, and Consumers Union. But the AMA and AARP are among the most influential for member of Congress, so their sign-off is significant.

Meanwhile, and unsurprisingly, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Retail Industry Leaders Association and the National Association of Manufacturers remain opposed.

LJ.

he's staying to fulfill his campaign promise! peep... i don't go for all these opinions... unless it's glenn beck, he makes me piss myself laughing. there's alot of facts out there, it just takes a person alot of time to read them, and effort to avoid distorted opinions. fact check non- opinion sites exist.
