Are their any young hippies?

Sure!  They're called "Trustifarians" (the rich ones) or "Wooks" (the smelly ones.) There is some overlap between the two categories.

Why, yes. Yes I was.  All that peace & love jazz was My idea. Thanks for the props.

You know, I've always thought it was ridiculous that Mr Riffhard includes Keef's quote about petty morals in his sig, because he (Mr Riffhard, not Keef) is often about nothing BUT petty morals. For instance, I was perusing the archives recently and found a great thread where he (in all seriousness) calls Bill Clinton a "serial rapist". Heee hee hee!!!

But he ALSO includes a quote from Bob Dylan in his sig - "I ain't no leftist" - and I'm pretty sure, leftist or not, that Bob would ask Mr Riffhard please not to drag him into the muck that he so often exudes.

Here are some quotes of Bob's about President Obama. Mr. Riffhard - tear down that quote!

"...we've got this guy out there now who is redefining the nature of politics
from the ground up...Barack Obama.  He's redefining what a politician is, so
we'll have to see how things play out. Am I hopeful? Yes, I'm hopeful that
things might change. Some things are going to have to."

"

...

"He'll be the best president he can be. Most of those guys come into office
with the best of intentions and leave as beaten men. Johnson would be a
good example of that … Nixon, Clinton in a way, Truman, all the rest of them
going back. You know, it's like they all fly too close to the sun and get burned.

I pointed this out (Dylan) a long time ago, but it was never acknowledged by the riffi.

Obama is the FIRST president that Bob Dylan has ever endorsed. Ever !!

and Rify will ignore it, probably. Just like he proclaims he got lied to when he used to be a liberal, and is now some born again, which does at least expalin his evangelical and judgemental tact... but, he's never responded to many queries on this former life... the when and whats... I think, he bought a copy of the "no nukes" album, and didn't like the music... that's just my theory on his former liberal ideals... we're talking about a guy, who found a way to jutify our once constitutional prejudice, as necessary because we would later be a nation ridding the world of tyranny... truth is, it was a bunch of guys looking to lower their taxes, that's our independence, to self govern... I do get a kick out of the grandiosity of his posting for his ideals and cause, his version of america, and how so many act like an event like sept. 11th, was a unique experience only they can have b/c of those ideals... and the concept, of how he is laughing  while saying incredibly mean things, he justifies b/c of who a certain poster is, or a belief they have or god forbid, they are educated and use big words to debate him... the personality of the authoritarian... the balls it takes to flat out lie in some cases... yet, his descrition on his jobs webiste, even jokes about him being a dem. lib... b/c he's such an outspoken person politically. I asked him about it, they put it up to break his stones... yet he has said, this is the only place he talks politics... to thine ownself be true, a lie to everyone else... it makes sense, he talks about how his dad warned him about liberalism, which goes along with the description of the authroitarian personality, and how fathers can help nurture the hatred towards certain groups... gays, libs, muslims ect... anyone be angry and say some weird shit... but riffy has said over, time and again... that we should indiscrimitaly kill those and those near those, who may be enemies... that is how to keep us free... wow!!! also called for torture of people, not as interogation, but as justice, punishment and revenge... wow!!! not only bob dylan, the band who this board is here for... polar opposites... slightly sociapathic too!!!

Oh, I wouldn't say that Mr. Riffhard and the Stones are COMPLETE polar opposites.  The Stones' ridiculous ticket prices show them to be believers, like Riffy, in an unfettered free market system - screw anyone who can't afford 'em.  Like health care!

You don't think WE are either, do you? Or, at least, you don't think we're any MORE serious than he is, do you?

Although our "tampons" aren't "in a bunch" (ewwww...thankx for that graphic mental image, Jellyroll), if we act like they are, it ups his entertainment value 1000%.

he's stated repeatedly concerning certain people here, how he feels... maybe you missed his diatribe on JC, who he is convinced is a certain person... which can't be proven, but he acts like they are regardless, and makes no bones about using NC-17 language... what about brainbell and fuman... he's the glenn beck of this board, although he likes to think he's mark levin, like that's a good thing. he even has stated, that he feels like he has to post ther stuff he does here, like it's some sort of divine calling... it's not whether we take him serious, he takes what he does here, so serious... meglomania...

Well, whoever He is, He sure isn't Sen. Jim Bunning of Kentucky.

Jim Bunning, a Republican from Kentucky, is single-handedly blocking Senate action needed to prevent an estimated 1.2 million American workers from prematurely losing their unemployment benefits next month.

As Democratic senators asked again and again for unanimous consent for a vote on a 30-day extension Thursday night, Bunning refused to go along.

And when Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) begged him to drop his objection, Bunning replied: "Tough shit."

Bunning says he doesn't oppose extending benefits -- he just doesn't want the money that's required added to the deficit. He proposes paying for the 30-day extension with stimulus funds. The Senate's GOP leadership did not support him in his objections.

And at one point during the debate, which dragged on till nearly midnight, Bunning complained of missing a basketball game.

"I have missed the Kentucky-South Carolina game that started at 9:00," he said,
"and it's the only redeeming chance we had to beat South Carolina since they're the only team that has beat Kentucky this year.

The unemployment rate in Kentucky is 10.7 percent.

The stakes are enormous: provisions of last year's stimulus bill that allow extra weeks of unemployment benefits and COBRA health coverage are set to expire on Feb. 28. State workforce agencies have already sent out letters informing recipients that they'll be ineligible for extra "tiers" of benefits starting next month. The National Employment Law Project estimates that 1.2 million people will prematurely lose benefits in March.

Judy Conti, a lobbyist for the NELP, said that even when Bunning is eventually thwarted and the extension is passed, state governments will still have to deal with the extra administrative costs of shutting down and restarting the extended benefits programs. The same thing hapened last year when the GOP delayed authorizing an extension to argue over Acorn.

"Once the program is retroactively reauthorized, the federal government is going to send the same amount of money, but his own state government is going to have to spend even more money," Conti said.

"What happened last night was an absolute disgrace. There is a time and a place a purpose for debate on deficit reduction, but you don't make your stand on the back of the unemployed. It is ill-informed, counter productive and just cruel."

Bunning's office # is (202) 224-4343. I just called and talked to a nice young staffer to politely relay my disgust with the Senator's grandstanding.

To make it worse, Bunning used to pitch for My
team, the Philadelphia Phillies. He pitched a
perfect game in 1964.

This is funny as shit, thx Onion for some funny shit as always!!!

DAHO FALLS, ID—Speaking unto an audience of anti-immigration advocates, global-warming deniers, and members of the Tea Party Nation, former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin gave forth utterances Monday that reportedly opened the sixth seal of the Book of the Apocalypse.

"Wow, it's good to be here, just shootin' the breeze with a bunch of real, hardworking Americans who love their freedom," said Palin, her words echoing across the Idaho Falls Civic Auditorium as mighty tremors caused great unrest beneath the land and the sea. "So are the little guys like you and me gonna fight these Washington insiders with their big government agenda? You betcha we are!"

And lo, there was then a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair; and the moon became as blood; and "gosh" was spoken repeatedly; and the stars of heaven fell upon the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken by a mighty wind.

And the 10th mention of "small town folk" brought forth a great belching chasm of death and dust.

These disturbances reportedly went unnoticed by the audience, however, as their thunderous applause drowned out the sound of the foretold cataclysm.

"This Tea Party movement just goes to show ya that America is ready for another revolution," Palin said as things long ago divined came finally to pass. "Who do you think is gonna stand up for the freedoms promised by our Founding Fathers? Folks like us, or some socialist professor of constitutional law in the Oval Office?"

It was then, witnesses claim, that there was a tearing of the heavens, and the skies receded as does a scroll when it is rolled up, and anecdotes about everyday middle-class Alaskan families were enunciated in down-to-earth tones.

"That's right, partner," Palin said, as every mountain and island moved from its place, and flames overtook the lakes and the rivers and the seas. "Thanks, but no thanks."

According to biblical scholars, the opening of the seven seals described in the Book of Revelation will usher in the End Times, the Tribulation, the reign of the Antichrist, and the eventual salvation of the 144,000 chosen few. It is thought that the sixth seal's opening will bring about the full fury of God, leading ultimately to the Day of Wrath.

"Admittedly, this is not what we were expecting," said Robert Harwood, a doctor of divinity at the University of Cambridge. "The Bible speaks of a beast with seven horns and seven eyes, not a raven-haired woman from the north who knows not what foolishness she speaks of."

"Still, there's no denying it," Harwood added. "The End of Days is upon us."

One member of the crowd not torn apart by swarming harpies told reporters he feared living in a country where his daughters would grow up speaking Spanish and not be allowed to carry handguns.

"Palin for president!" Bill Coleman, 37, of Topeka, KS chanted, and the stench of flesh rotting in the belly of Satan rose up, and the stench of death rose up. "Sarah Palin for president!"

"Small town folks—the folks who grow our food, run our small businesses, and teach our kids—are getting pretty riled up by President Obama's big socialist ideas," Palin spoke as the stage upon which she stood was rent apart by an unseen hand, opening as unto a great chasm, whose gaping void she narrowly escaped by clinging to the podium.

"Uh…how's that hopey-changey stuff workin' out for ya?" Palin added.

Chaos and disorder then spread across hill and valley to every corner of the earth, eyewitnesses reported, and as the minions of the Antichrist prepared for their millennium of world dominion, even the teeming masses of heathens could not in their hearts deny that the final phase of Armageddon was close at hand, and that you're darn right Joe Six-Pack pays too many taxes already.

The Antichrist, whose true identity remained unknown as of press time, will reportedly come to torment the sinners of humanity as soon as the seventh and last remaining seal is opened.

"I'm so happy that we've got the liberal left running scared," Palin concluded. "Because whatever the TV pundits might want you to think, from where I'm standing, the future looks really good."

Republican want to start over, especially when it is pointed out how much the dems have spots where they agree and can move forward easily... this seems to be a real sticking point... it's the political equivilent of stopping fucking right before you orgasm, which makes total sense... were not talking pulling out and blowing the load on the tummy kinda shit... cut and run, quit, don't finish what you started, surrender and all that... if the republicans stance was, there isn't a problem, so we shouldn't do anything, then this would make sense... no wonder they love Palin, bunch of quiiters... this is your job guys... do your fucking jobs, I don't care if you diagree or even if you can't pass a bill, you still have to do the work... you debate, make comprmoises and vote you fucking dickweeds, it is yout fucking public service responsibilty, it's why you get paid, and wghy you guys get awesome healthcare benefits!!!

I do not think President Obama acted very Presidential yesterday.
He has not graduated to be above the fray which is the battle between
the Dems & the GOP.  He seems to enjoy throwing jabs & barbs whenever he can.
Rather than acknowledge that Sen McCain made some valid points, he
chose to return fire, in a condescending tone.  Look, he is the one who should
realize the election run is over, start acting like a leader.  Sorry to repeat
what I said yesterday, however, the last elected Democratic President knew
far more towards healing a rift & how to win the room than the present one does.
He needs to learn to bring sides together in a manner which both sides have a
say in the matter.  Directing compromise is a learned trait, however, it should not
be on real time.  Saying he's going to force health care whether he has agreement
